    Just for fun - A Bard-Bear-ian

If you toss it hard enough the second floor will be the first floor's vaulted ceiling.

Some big steel drums that he uses a mace for a drumstick. Though I like the idea of the bear tossing a caber as a weapon, too.

    Just for fun - A Bard-Bear-ian

You're right! I had completely forgotten the needed Charisma for spell casting. Silly me. Lets say you're at 9 Charisma to start. Bards only get 6th level spells. A bump from leveling up and a +6 cloak is more than enough. On another note, would a bear need Natural Spell?

[+] [3.x/PF] Ways to play the Assassin

Facing just isn't really brought up in 3.5. The best I can find for you Greenfield is an article about updating the Beholder. that addresses facing problems.

[+] [3.x/PF] Ways to play the Assassin

The Assassin class is one of the many things that has led me to believe that not everything printed in them is intended for the players. Three rounds sitting around studying your target is not exactly exciting gameplay. The only way I can see it getting a lot of use is if the party is in a...

    Just for fun - A Bard-Bear-ian

So this? I would probably go for Black Bear to minimize the racial HD and level adjustment. Then, you only really need one level of Barbarian for the rage. Extra Rage can get you the rest. Take the rest as Bard. Remember that Bardic music just requires ranks in perform to use. Your spell...

    When the Waker Dreams...

Out of curiosity, what happens if you pray for spells at sunset? Is it always time to get new spells?

    When the Waker Dreams...

I'm a bit torn on this. Part of me wants to say "Oh, you get your spells back at dawn? Well it's not dawn." and force the players to dig deep. Make every cantrip count. That wand you've been carrying around for the last three levels? Time to bust it out. Maybe by purging certain parts of...

Do you like to use an Anti-Party?

My players response upon meeting the Stormblades was "I'm sorry, who are you? We've been too busy saving the city" and promptly ridiculed and ignored them. I had an explayer complain that I used anti-parties too much. The argument came after I had a cleric backing up a group of rogues. The...

Poll: Gaseous form vampire is surrounded...is it "stuck"?

The spell allows you to pass through "Mere cracks" so I would say yes. I will also agree with Celebrim that a creature that completely takes up its square would prevent movement, such as a gelatinous cube. Its movement would also be impeded if you could surrounded it with liquid (some sort...

Not the best module to introduce D&D...

Hollow's Last Hope, a free level 1 pathfinder module, might be useful. There is a mix of combat, exploration and roleplaying. If you have the herbalist in town give (sell?) some healing potions to him at the beginning a single player should be able to do it. Plus, if your son enjoys the...

If there are other adventuring parties, why haven't the low level dungeons all been looted?

I'm a fan of the way my wife put it. The farmer goes into the forest to gather firewood. The goblins see him gathering wood and think "He's got nothing worth stealing" and leave him alone. The farmer goes home with his firewood. The low level adventurers go into the forest. The goblins see...

Which 1-20 dungeon magazine adventure path to run?

I finished up a playthrough of Shackled City, using 3.5 rules, not too long ago. We did skip Chapter 12, Asylum, at the very end though. With Adrimarchus being locked up, my players didn't see the need to go fight him and I had been treating him as this nebulous force that was driving the...

    Evil wizard tower

I have a couple of thoughts. First, if I was attempting to protect an evil artifact from an evil cult, I would fill my dungeon with a bunch of good aligned monsters. Start off with some summoned celestial animals and as the party climbs the tower the monsters not only become stronger but...

    D&D 3.x Is there a D&D 3.5 mechanic for ritual casting?

Other than the Red Wizard of Thay PrC, there is the Cooperative Spell feat in Complete Arcane but all that does is add to the DC and give bonuses for caster level checks. Now, it is entirely within your rights as a DM to say "To do this magick you need to do this complex ritual as described...

    City Encounters

In the 3.5 DMG there is a city encounter table. Could you use that? What else are you looking for on this table? More information might be useful.

    Enhancing/Advancing monsters, and ECL/CR considerations

The other thing to consider is if you're giving a creature Fire Resistance and if the party uses a lot of fire. Yes, giving the monster fire resistance may explain why it lives in the fiery cave but if the party only has an ice mage then ... who cares about the CR?

    Flying Friggin' PCs

Flying has never really been a huge game breaker for me. Maybe I've just been very lucky with my players. Usually when I encounter flight it's because the wizard prepared the spell. Once. So for a few minutes, one of the players runs flies around and gets to feel awesome. By the time...

    Pogo stick?

As in the toy? Well, I suppose the party might find someone that takes a passing curiosity in it. Say, a gnome. He discovers that this device, while fun, is also a great help. It lets him get things off the top shelf! Pleased with this contraption, he begins to try and copy it. His first...

Looking for tips on a specific Rogue build

The Invisible Blade's Uncanny Feint ability is only usable once per round. Essentially, it was turned into a swift action. Access to invisibility (ring, potion, friendly mage) also will help. In my experience playing rogues, it was better to be throwing less d6s with a better chance to hit...
