    Undead Monster Brainstorm

For a martial character, there is a death knight template in MM2. I would use that as a good starting point. For a rogue, why not start with a ghost? Easy to sneak and steal when you can just walk through the walls.

    PC's in a sticky situation.

Don't feel bad, I was in a group once that was schooled by the DM's 7 year old daughter. He would always regale his family with tales of our adventures the next night at dinner. One particular evening, as he was telling his recap, his daughter slammed her hands on the table, stood up, and...

    PC's in a sticky situation.

If you jailbreak the fighter, then what? Do you or the DM have a plan for your next adventure?
  4. Grogg of the North

    PC's in a sticky situation.

What if you go to the ambassador you were supposed to be spying on and tell him everything. "Hey, this mob boss and the head of the town guard want us to plant some incriminating evidence on you. Problem is, they want us dead too. If you get us out of here, we'll serve you instead!"...

    PC's in a sticky situation.

Hmm ... unless you, the fighter and the barbarian can come up with something, I think this is an excellent opportunity to turn to your DM and say "We go hunt pirates" and watch him scramble. ;)

How do your PCs meet or know each other?

In the last campaign I ran, two of the PCs were from the same church. The third happened to be out on the streets when a mugging happened. That's how they met. In the current campaign I'm playing in, we were all hired to guard supplies going out to a mining town.
  7. Grogg of the North

How much back story do you allow/expect at the start of the game?

A paragraph is fine. No more than a page, really. However, as the campaign goes on, I try to ask questions to my players about their characters to help me, and them, learn more about their personalities. I also ask for some sort of personal goal. What do you do when you're not in the dungeon?
  8. Grogg of the North

    PC's in a sticky situation.

Running was probably not the best thing to do. You may have to get some illusion spells into your repertoire and just hide your identity in this city. Is there anyway to try and pin this on the mob boss? Can you have the barbarian rescue your fighter? Maybe pay to have him released...

    DnD 3.5 Dwarf Barbarian build

I guess the question I have for you is "What do you want your Barbarian to do?". Because that will define where your feats, skills and everything else will go to. Now Dwarves are typically lawful. Why has your dwarf let go of clan and tradition? Has something happened to his kingdom...

Would you please estimate the CR of this Aspect of Lolth

Well, by advancing HD she would only get +2 CR (+1 per 2 HD). I think you could add another +1 for a size increase. So original CR+3? Does her SR and spell casting advance as well or is it pegged at 25 and a specific level?

    Advice on a Conjurer

For conjurer you have many different options available to you. Summoning, battlefield control and direct damage. For summon spells, definitely look at Augment Summoning. You're going to want to look at summons that have unique abilities. Monsters that can trip, grapple or swallow whole are...

    Weapon for Wereshark?

Could you use the Wilding Clasp from the MIC?

    A trap on a book

"Three books? Wait a minute ... Hold it ... Nobody said anything about three books!" Unlocking the incorrect book lets loose the book which proceeds to attack the party. The only way to "defeat" the book is to get it back onto the pedestal and chain it back up. Meanwhile the book is flying...

    Medusa's Gaze Attack

shidaku But what if they guess the correct letter!? ;)
  15. Grogg of the North

    Medusa's Gaze Attack

Has anyone altered a medusa's gaze attack so that rather it being Save or Die it does something like dex damage or dex drain? Maybe something like 1d6 or 1d8 dex damage on a failed save? My players are going to come up on a covey of medusas and I'm thinking that forcing them to make four saves...

    D&D 3.x pirate campaign 3.5

The Arms and Equipment Guide (3.0) has a bunch of boat stuff in it. A few rules on sinking, hit points for some boat types and, of course, magical upgrades for your boat.

    D&D 3.x pirate campaign 3.5

The other reason we went with a Caravel is because we did a lot of river travel, too. Caravels were developed in 1450s. So if your game is set closer to the golden age of piracy, then it's about 200 years early. In fact it's too early for even the golden age of sail!

    D&D 3.x pirate campaign 3.5

When I played my pirate captain, I had a Caravel. They're small, can sail into the wind and can sail on the open sea and in deep rivers. This would work for your crew size, too! We handled ship to ship combat with missile fire and boarding actions. Remember, boats are expensive! If you can...

could use some help pricing an item

I'm thinking that lugging around such an item is going to fall into "Awesome but Impractical". Probably the easiest solution is to "gift" this to one of your player's home towns. Hopefully, in exchange you can gain access to libraries, mage towers, guild armories and have some influence in the...

could use some help pricing an item

Is the goal to give the players a large pile of cash? Or can they "sell" the item to a local kingdom in exchange for favors, prestige, etc?
