    D&D 5E (2014) The Paladin excerpt

One of my players is saying its the symbol of the 'Order of the Gauntlet', an order of paladins devoted to Tyr, Helm, Torm and Hoar.

D&D 5E (2014) Why does the "criminal" background start with low wealth?

I assume the OP is talking about the Adventure League Players Guide. Starting Lifestyles Background Starting Lifestyle Acolyte Modest Charlatan Comfortable Criminal Poor Entertainer Modest Folk Hero Modest Guild Artisan Comfortable Hermit Poor Noble Wealthy Outlander Poor Sage Modest Sailor...

D&D 5E (2014) Halfling rogue sniping from the the second rank

To be fair, the target can actually do thing's in response to getting shot at. Getting into cover would be smart, or even just going prone will negate the sniper's Advantage.

D&D 5E (2014) [Rules Question] Two-handed Weapons and Somatic Components

Which arguably wasn't actually the right question.

    D&D 5E (2014) And the backgrounds are...

Well, at least one of thouse, Criminal, has an alternate background as spy. At least three of them, Criminal, Soldier and Sage, have 8 Sub Backgrounds they split down into as well. I mean, you look at Sage sub-backgrounds: Alchemist, Astronomer, Discredited academic, Librarian, Professor...

D&D 5E (2014) [Rules Question] Two-handed Weapons and Somatic Components

Thinking about it further, I am not sure my conclusions are valid. You need to be *using* a Quarterstaff to use it as a Spell focus, you would not need to be using a Great Sword. Also the Alpha had a feat that among other things granted 'Holding weapons or a shield in each hand doesn’t prevent...

D&D 5E (2014) [Rules Question] Two-handed Weapons and Somatic Components

I am pretty sure that according to Mearls on twitter, the whole reason for the Quarterstaff becoming a one handed versatile weapon, is that you would not be able to use it as a spell focus with somatic spells if it were two handed as you would not have a free hand. So basically you cant cast...

D&D 5E (2014) Instant death and undead fortitude question

Seems to me that every time the Zombie takes damage this ability would come into play. So a Fighter attacking it four time when it was on 1 Hit Pint would require the Zombie t make 4 saves. If this was not the case, the bit about Critical Hits would not make much sense as that happens on an...

D&D 5E (2014) Staff of Defense and the Shield spell

I suspect that the reference to Action is the case of the Shield spell was a mistake, and it should be cast using a reaction as normal.

    D&D 5E (2014) Moar Feats

Intoxication no longer exists as a condition so it would have been a somewhat confusing ability. ;o)

D&D 5E (2014) Fun and Interesting things from the 5e system

This would seem to be correct. 'You can’t hide from a creature that can see you', (page 60 in 0.1). If your only lightly obscured, I think the intent is pretty clear that you *can* be seen. While 'A heavily obscured area—such as darkness, opaque fog, or dense foliage — blocks vision entirely.'

D&D 5E (2014) Differences between the Alpha and the final

The later I would think, keeping trace of umpteen power pools is annoying. On a more game breaking note: When you are reduced to 0 Hit points as a pot plant, you no longer spill dirt everywhere. Gentlemen, commence your /ragequits now.

D&D 5E (2014) A viable game and the vicious edition cycle

I am reasonably sure that GNW was owned by someone related to the Blumes, so I think it was purchased more to try and keep them happy than because of any real hope of its success.

    D&D Game Mechanic Lie Detectors

The classic way, which I have actually seen used more in Shadowrun than in D&D, is to convince someone else that the lie is true, and then have that person tell the people who can Detect Lies. Because the middleman believes the lie is true, the power doesn't show up that they are lying.

D&D 5E (2014) Differences between the Alpha and the final

The Sorcerer (Wild Magic) ability Bend Luck now runs of Sorcery Points rather than being its own pool of dice.
