    Richard Belzer On Sci-Fi

Yes, Tommy Westphall. Currently, 85 shows (83 if you exclude the Simpsons and King of the Hill) have some connection to the Tommy-verse (or Fontana-verse or Munch-verse or whatever). Yes, we all knew that The X-Files, Millenium, and the Lone Gunmen (and perhaps Strange Luck) took place in the...

    Marvel Universes

Not exactly on topic, but there is a rumour floating about that Marvel is trying to position itself to be bought. The believed front runner is Sony, but among the other alleged candidates is Hasbro. If Hasbro acquires Marvel, you may yet see a fourth version of a MSH RPG, d20 no less. (But don't...

    Kenzer Co upcoming releases

As long as it has a chakrum in it. In my Ierendi-based(Mystara/Mystaros) campaign, I'm thinking of having Gabrielle enter the AC1001 adventurer's tournament. :D

    Any comments on Hackmaster?

I think you nailed it on the head with homage. Anyone who remembers EGG's prefaces to the 1st Edition books will recall his comments on how the addition of house rules would result in a game that was no longer AD&D. Hackmaster just ups that a notch (with tongue in cheek, I'm sure), as it does...

What the heck about the Realms is Forgotten anyway?

I'm only addressing a specific portion of your comments, as regards what DMs were thinking at the time. If you're not qualified to back up those comments from personal experience or knowledge, I'm fine with that. I'll return you to your regularly scheduled canon flame-war. ;)

What the heck about the Realms is Forgotten anyway?

I'm afraid Jester is absolutely correct on this point, and there is no need to ask Mr. Greenwood about it, as his words on the subject are already in print. q.v.: Dragon, issue 54, pp. 6-8; article entitled "Down to earth divinity". While I certainly can't vouch for most DMs in the whole of...

    Return of Mystara?

I'm planning on running a HackMaster adventure based loosely on the (delightfully poor) movie adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's Dagon. I kind of would like to set it on an island in Ierendi, but would like just a few minor spoilers from the newer version to help start up the characters. if...

    Return of Mystara?

I don't hate the 2nd Edition sets per se. I thought the actual setting book in the Karameikos set was rather slickly produced (and I mean that in a good way), but there were a few annoying quirks that really brought it down a notch or five. Just as an example, open up GAZ1 and the Karameikos...

    Return of Mystara?

The key here is that Mystara is not being ruined. Mockery it may be, but all good satire contains an element of mockery. The Hackmaster version is being called Mystaros, not Mystara itself. At worst, it's a shadowy reflection of Mystara on another world altogether, and certainly can't damage the...

    Return of Mystara?

The evolution was more clearly laid out in the Hollow World setting, but the Gazetteers themselves did explain quite a bit if you read the timelines. While certain things do seem quite hokey (Ylaruam surrounded by temperate and subarctic regions, albeit explained away by 'magic'), the actual...

What's the oldest RPG Product you own?

Oldest altogether is my copy of Gods, Demi-Gods & Heroes (2nd printing, April '77, colour cover with TSR's old Lizard logo). My first actual purchase however was the '83 Basic Set (Elmore cover).

Will D20 Modern work for a Stargate SG-1 Camapign?

Season One and Two are available as boxed sets on NTSC region 1 DVD. Seasons Two through Five are available as individual PAL Region 2 & 4 discs, usually with about 4 episodes per disc. If you're in California, you'd need a codefree/multisync DVD player or a modded Xbox to run the Region 2 discs.

d20 Modern SRD in PDF format with bookmarks & table of contents

For the sake of full compliancy, shouldn't the term "d20" be excised from the title page and the file name? I'm making a hunch here, but I believe the name of the document for section 15 purposes is "Modern System Reference Document", and WotC is claiming "d20" in that context as a trademark...

    What about Xander?

I'm still thinking Xander is a Charismatic Hero with emphasis on the Fast Talk talent tree. Cordy is the same class but emphasizing development on the Charm tree.

OT: Luke Perry over Alyson Hannigan??

Yep, basically a rehash of The Tribe with the characters "all grown up". Decent show, but hardly groundbreaking.

    Xcrawl Opinions

I was amused by the use of professional wrestling terminology in the preview (in fact I ran an AD&D gladiator game based on similar concepts in the late 80s). I should point out that the term "Turn" is being used kind of incorrectly, if you're concerned with such things. A Heel Turn (or Face...
