Errata to Playing Warforged in DR364 compilation

Embedding weapons suddenly seems even more stupid than when I first read about it.

    Power Attack still sucks

The idea is to take those -10% to hit when you don't need them. I know it's less likely to happen in 4e but there will still be times when a greater chance to hit is not necessary and more damage can be useful. This doesn't have to happen in 100% of all actions for Power Attack to be a viable...

More Fighter Powers: Swordsman's Gambit and Fortress Strike

I don't like adding half of anything. I have mathematically challenged friends. I wonder if it'll be hard to keep track of the requirement on the Swordsman's Retort power. Also, it's not clear to me why these are called Swordsman's Retort and Swordsman's Gamble. They don't require that you use...

    Power Attack still sucks

Nothing else is per [w]. Strength bonus, weapon enhancement bonuses, other feats - nothing is added more than once. It's obvious that powerattack is supposed to be used against things that are easier to hit, or when you have bonuses that compensates for it. Being a fighter using his favored...

    Power Attack still sucks

So what would be a better, easier and more balanced version? This is the Creations and House Rules forum, not the whine-about-rules-you-don't-like forum. Well I guess it can be that too, but then I expect someone to provide a solution. To say that it's just useful in some situations doesn't...

    Power Attack still sucks

I think we'll need a better explanation of why it sucks before we can begin discussing this. Or any kind of explanation.

Mad King's Banquet 4e conversion (spoilers)

Railroading? Ok, I've finally figured out my main problem with this adventure. It depends a lot on getting the characters to move north to Gallo, but it does so in a rather obvious way which will make many players (and probably characters) very suspicious. While this may be well in line with...

Mad King's Banquet 4e conversion (spoilers)

Pitchlings These slender fey step nimbly through the forest, naked except for a coating of black pitch smeared across their bodies. They carry jagged longbows, but no arrows, though rows of long, sharp spines stick out from their backs. As one trains its bow on you, it snaps a spine off from...

    New Monster: Rat King

This is cool. I imagine it as a many-headed dire rat and not a lot of rats grown together by the tail, because I think a rat with many heads and a tiny crown on each head is funny...

    Why'd they change the Lamia?

Perhaps it would be easier to just call them something else if you think that Lamia isn't a good name for them. They obviously have nothing to do with the mythological creature so it won't be confusing for anyone if you call them "death beetles" or "hollow ones" or whatever.

If 2handed weapon is wielded 1 handed, does it still count as 2 handed?

Based on what you're saying it seems like that would be the case.

    Why'd they change the Lamia?

Wait, are you saying it isn't cooler than before? How odd. And I'm not even part of the "anime generation", whatever that is. Oh and anime has existed for over 30 years now, at least...

    Why'd they change the Lamia?

Because there is already a sphinx.

House rule: any class, any skill choice

Yeah I don't see a problem with this either. I will probably allow this for when we're converting the 3.5 campaign into a 4e one, just to make sure people get the skills they want.

    Medium Armor type?

Studded leather is iconic to me because it's what Errol Flynn wears in Robin Hood... or at least that's what it looks like. Actually... you could just say that Chainmail proficiency also grants proficiency with Ringmail and leave it at that. Then you wouldn't need to worry about adding class...

    Medium Armor type?

Well, I don't think this is really needed but if you are determined to keep it you might want to add that proficiency with Ringmail counts as proficiency with Chainmail for determining prerequisites for better armor feats. Also you should probably mention that all classes proficient with...

    Insubstantial monsters

Passing through walls is a different property: Phasing. As far as I can tell insubstantial creatures are still vulnerable to all the conditions and special effects such as being prone, grabbed, etc, as everyone else. The only effect of being insubstantial is that you take half damage.

    D&D 4E 4e Berserker Class (a work in progress) - updated 07/02/08

Looks promising. I wonder why the rage class feature prevents it from using its powers though. I would have expected the defining feature to be the very source of its powers instead of a last resort. Perhaps I'll change my mind when I see what the powers are like. It's also interesting that you...
