Insubstantial monsters

The MM says that insubstantial monsters lack physical substance and take 1/2 damage from all sources .

But they can pass trough walls ? They take criticals ? Can be knocked prone , grabbed , and so on ?

The description seems incomplete . I missed sometihng ?

Passing through walls is a different property: Phasing.

As far as I can tell insubstantial creatures are still vulnerable to all the conditions and special effects such as being prone, grabbed, etc, as everyone else. The only effect of being insubstantial is that you take half damage.

Only half damage. Phasing is the ability that allows creatures to pass through walls, ignore difficult terrain, and pass through creatures.

Phasing is a movement power while Insubstantial is a resistance power. By keeping the two separate it allows developers to use movement powers, like Phasing, for creatures that are not Insubstantial. The Rakshasa Assassin can use Phasing but doesn't gain Insubstantial. A Sorrowsworn Deathlord can always use Phasing but must activate Insubstantial as part of a power w/recharge.

Hope that helps.
