    D&D 5E (2014) Multiclassing in Next

That's some assumption you have got going there. Haha. I totally read. "When I started off with AD&D back in the 1970s, 3Ed/3.5Ed style multiclassing was far and away my favorite. Which would be much more fun.

    Wizards hate warlocks

Congrats, I think you are the first to say the dndnext = computer game.. (the above was a joke, just in case you aren't sure)

Finally, the Fighter can both Stunt and Hit

Seems you can. Mearls gave an example. If you have 3 CE dice, you could use them to defend 3 different allies from the attacks of up to 3 orcs.

Finally, the Fighter can both Stunt and Hit

I love that the fighter will be a killing machine with virtually any weapon in hand. I mean, at 10th level, CE dice are 4d12, so while whether he uses a greatword or a shortsword, will matter flavor-wise, it will have relatively little influence on his damage output. 4d12.. just brutal. I like it.

Is a storm coming RE: skills and feats?

The à la carte-option is still there according to mearls in the PA-audio recordings.

    Warlock and Sorcerer

Well, just because we get the sorc and the lock with different kinds of spellcasting, it doesn't automatically mean we won't get other variations for the wizard. On the other hand, modularity does not equal getting every option for every flavor and taste. Especially not out of the gate.

D&D 5E (2014) Eagerly Awaiting the Next Playtest Packet

I am very much hoping the ranger is in it. That way, I can convert my players' 2e drow party and we can run a few playtests and still continue the campaign. Now that would be a win-win!

    D&D Next Q&A 9 August

At some point, it was scaling like that yes. The CS system leads me to believe rogues will be able to trade SA dice for "effects". Like bleed damage or movement impairing, just like in 3.x and 4e. Never been a fan of it so far, but might work if its not an all or nothing thing.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons: "There's a "Mod" for that!

Mearls' favorite edition is OD&D afaik. Lets not confuse things.

are you more interested in 5e or numenera?

I am by miles more interested in dndnext. That said, I have supported Numenera's kickstarter, since I must admit, it is the first RPG (non-dnd) since Alternity and CoC that piked my interest.

All of the above. We recently returned to 2e, and I snagged the HD mechanic from D&D Next. All I had to do is change healing/herbalism skill and voila. Works well, without reminding at all about the 4e healing surge wonkiness.

D&D 5E (2014) And Lo, the Fighter Did Get a Shtick of his Own... COMBAT SUPERIORITY!

Biggest difference seems to be that in DCC you both need to hit the AC of the target AND hit a target number with your "action die". Granted, said number isn't very high, at least not to achieve a minimum of success.

D&D 5E (2014) And Lo, the Fighter Did Get a Shtick of his Own... COMBAT SUPERIORITY!

Yeah, that was a fail on my part. I have been away from the boards for a while and forgot he was a fan :) Aha. I see. So you want something like 3.x multiclassing without it being multiclass? You ain't the first, nor the last I suspect. I disagree. Fighters didn't rock until 4e. Oldschool dnd...

D&D 5E (2014) And Lo, the Fighter Did Get a Shtick of his Own... COMBAT SUPERIORITY!

Fair enough. So you will just have to trust me when I say that in 4e, the dnd fighter finally became awesome beyond level 4.

Why don't you want this to be an exclusive mechanic to the fighter?
