    Operation: Power Level Gary

Finally I got around once more. Using the posts around the Colonel is now an idea stolen.

    The top Avalon Hill boardgames...

I've played 16 of them and seen all (having hoarding board game geek friends help a lot). 1830 and Britannia are two of my all time favourites and I have played both several hundred times. 1830 is a bit dated now since the formula works so much better in 1870. Republic of Rome is probably the...

London is Doomed: Mass Effect 3, Holiday '11

I got through yesterday, and I find I'm rather pleased. Still not a big fan of the game play and rather certain I didn't get all the stuff available. When I don't like the combat doing it several times to see different outcomes is more than a little boring. Over all I think the story suits...

London is Doomed: Mass Effect 3, Holiday '11

Not really ;) Got a little time with it yesterday, and I must say I lost some sparkle from my ME2-memories. Coming straight from DA2 the feeling of "this is a shooter, not an RPG" were extremely strong. And I don't like shooters. So far the story isn't quite up to the original and Shadow...

London is Doomed: Mass Effect 3, Holiday '11

Then I know what to do this weekend ;)

    Dragon Age 2

After some hours I am switching fast between "OOOOH! Shiny!" bliss and "I Want My Numbers Back!" irritation. Dragon Age 2 so far seem to me to take a very long step in the same direction Mass Effect 2 did. Away from Baldur's Gate and the other turn based, detail oriented, tactically challenging...

[Videogames] February/March 2011: What Are You Playing?

Drakensang: The River of Time. And since you ask for March also I will be playing Dragon Age 2 in two weeks...

    And yeeeeeeeeeeer OUT!

I was starting to write the continuation of that, but didn't bother listening to so much ranting, and then I found this Death To The World (with lyrics) from the HP Lovcraft historical society It is more than close enough...

    Dragon Age 2 Demo available

I did that, and then found the solution deeply burried in the forums: DX11 is not working properly yet. With DX9 I played through without other trouble than some loading times. What that showed me is how much more awsome the game will be with DX11 and everything set at max. It was a really...

WotC has ended support for Living Forgotten Realms (and the RPGA, too)

Steel Wind, I really don't appreciate being used as an example on something when the one using me is giving me motives I don't have and assuming meanings not meant. I'm not a native speaker of English, so I suppose I might have come out wrong within the limits of an XP-comment. I never had any...

    Dragon Age 2 Demo available

Anyone else have much crashing trouble with the demo? It complains about a missing disk (a hard-disk no less...) when connecting to BioWare and on 4 tries I have had two failures to start, one freeze early in the first combat and one after killing the first hordes and accepting the character. I...

War of the Burning Sky - Online MMORPG (based on 3.5)

    Bribing the DM

The matra around here has always been "Feed the GM" But other than that I certainly would say old single malt whisky is a sure way to bribe the GM (ie, me ;) )

What is the best computer game you have ever played?

It has to do with unclear rights mostly. But Might & Magic 1-6 are at Might and Magic® 6-pack: Limited Edition - GOG.com And some games simply used so many bugs from DOS and Windows display and sound drivers that any emulation probably is impossible :-(

What is the best computer game you have ever played?

That's one of the big advantages of GOG: You can download it, burn it, install it on all computers in your house (if you, like me, have more than one) and enjoy it. So yes, buying it from GOG let you burn the games to CD/DVD and with no DRM you can be pretty sure you can play it as long as you...

What is the best computer game you have ever played?

There is a widescreen patch worth considering at G3: Widescreen Mod Running at 640x480 is a bit difficult on modern equipment :)

    Sid Meyer's Civilization Board Game

Or you could use my favourite used games retailer Noble Knight games. Seems they have several at the moment. This is the original game: Civilization (Painting Cover) And they also have the Western Expansion allowing for more players: Civilization - Western Extension Map I really envy you if...

Looking to write-up a good one off for GenCon

Make sure you can skip sections. Almost all convention games get in time trouble. What the really good games often provide is a fixed start, a lot of possible middle action, and a fixed end-challenge. One way that has worked well for me (both as a GM and a player) is to get the problem presented...
