    Metallic Dragons: Unaligned!?

Well, how many gold dragons do the PCs run into that one behaving in an evil fashion is a deviation from an observed trend?

Improved Tactics: Only works with Action Point?

It's just the action point. Powers that relate to a class feature are not that class feature.

    Shields and Wands

You can hold things with the shield hand, so it should be possible to switch back and forth between the wand and sword.

    Castle

Well, it's usually introducing suspects a little too late for a proper 'who-dun-it.' It focuses more on the main cast relationships instead of the crime/criminals/victims, reducing that drama. But I think I'd like a more mystery/puzzle focus too.

    What's so special about Dragonlance?

The Kingpriest was only Good according to his PR people. Hence, I also see the "Balance of Alignments" as being founded on BS.

    Castle

I like the show, but I think it suffers a bit because it handles the cases inconsistently. Sometimes it's a mystery (the first ep plot is basically pulled from Agatha Christie), sometimes it's more of police procedural or crime drama. I think a more consistent style might suit it better.

Woohoo! I crit with a daily!

My best crit has been with Curtain of Steel. It must be demoralizing for the enemies when they die due to a counter attack on their own turn.

    For the Record

Cleric PPs have some Close Burst 8 attacks too, which could hit a lot more than 50 guys if the party is surrounded.

    Description of "Slowed"

Slowed is with the rest of the conditions on page 277. It reduces Speed to 2, and prevents Speed from increasing above two.

Forked Thread: Twilight of the Warlocks

Yeah, thanks for making my point. There's a monster not engaged by a defender; it can move around and attack anyone else in the party. Which target would the party prefer for him to attack? A) the melee ranger or rogue, who tend to have lowish Con and are generally in melee so our new...

Forked Thread: Twilight of the Warlocks

It's less that defense is useless. However, combining good defenses with anti-marking mechanics like Hellish Rebuke seems counterproductive. The whole point of defenders is that monsters usually need an additional incentive to go after high defense targets instead of low defense ones. A...

Classes and Roles: supply and demand

We chose to start a new campaign after the end of our Heroic arc. So everyone got a fresh shot. Of course, we ended up with a cleric, a battlerager fighter, and one player's second dragonborn rogue; the only new classes are my barbarian and our invoker who has been out of town. Talk about a...

Lifting players's selection constraints on powers - has anyone tried this?

It tends to weaken differentiation between characters of the same class.

Classes and Roles: supply and demand

I think that the situation is somewhat unstable since new material is coming out faster than people can experience it (one can change characters quickly, but then misses out on experiencing any given character over a wide range of levels). So assuming people will want to play classes that...

    Expertise justification?

One issue there is that if initial leader powers don't hit (low hit chance), then the other people don't get the bonus. Hit chances are low, so leader powers that boost hit chance don't hit, so hit chances are low... And if limited use powers are being used up, then the group is in some trouble.

D&D 4E (Speculation) 4e Monks Will be Defenders, Methinks

I would hope for defender too. There's sort of glut of strikers. And martial arts characters, while usually acrobatic, also tend towards facing their enemies in a straightforward fashion. They dodge and parry all kinds of stuff. I think we should could use some interesting defender stuff...

    It's hard to avoid arguing

It's rare, but I have seen people change their mind. And even if I'm not changing anyone's mind, the process of formulating a post to defend or attack a position can help me sharpen or define my own thoughts on the matter, as I go from a general disagreement to looking at reasons, providing...

    Improved Grab keeps killing PCs

Get Close Quarters Fighting or use Freedom of Movement. The size/STR modifiers on many monsters can be nigh unbeatable. It also helps to Enlarge frontline fighters/barbarians. Dimension Door is a good escape spell.
