Whedon: More Buffy in the future

I pretty much have to agree. It was one of the reasons I never liked the "Buffyverse". Personally, I'd much rather he find a way to do more firefly or something like it as that worked a lot better for me than either of the "Buffyverse" shows.

Posting a response without reading the other responses

Hey, at least they read the posted question. The ones that really get me are the ones where it is obvious that the person posting didn't even read the original post.

    Gilligan's Island Syndrome and authors

I didn't remember that being there. In any case, it crosses series as well because the ones he set in that other world where most of the characters were knights were just as formulaic as the Garion/Belgarath world books were.

Do you own Ars Magica? Will you?

He's still using Ars Magica magic rather than Pavaric magic. What he is doing is sticking AM into the context of Harn. The Order of Hermes, for instance, replaces the Shek P'var as Harn's secretive magical organization and so on.

Need Planning Help for Town Adventure

I doubt step one is going to take very long. I imagine they will find out the basic story (that the ambassador was killed while under the protection of the PCs) very quickly on arrival if they don't know it before they get there. I imagine talking to the PCs would be the first order of...

    Gilligan's Island Syndrome and authors

I recall reading a year or two back something where Bernard Cornwell not only admitted it, but basically laid out his formula. It might have been in the author's notes of one of his books. David Eddings is horribly formulaic, at least when I was reading his books -- I gave up a decade or so ago.

It was a well meaning warning and you respond like this? I'm OUTRAGED!

Brings a whole new meaning to the old slogan about a "tiger in your tank"...

Do you own Ars Magica? Will you?

The game I'm playing in has adapted Ars Magica to Harn instead.

What would you do... (warning, touchy subject) - Updated

You might want to have a doctor look at the bruises as well. The doctor might be able to give weight to abuse allegations.

    Lost (and found) treasures

Perhaps it is because Giogi Wyvernspur was inspired by Bertie Wooster who, with his "man" Jeeves, was a very popular Wodehouse character. Wyvern's Spur reminds me a lot of the Jeeves and Wooster stories I've seen.

    Playing Hooky ROCKS!

When I was in college I managed several times to arrange things so all my classes were on Tuesday and Thursday so I had four day weekends every week. :D

    Is Larry Elmore still popular?

So much of the more recent art just seems too "edgy". I suppose that's a lot of the problem with "dungeonpunk" for me. I want more classical looking art. There's an artist named Edmund Blair Leighton who painted in the 19th century who had a style I very much like. That's the sort of thing I...

Do you own Ars Magica? Will you?

I have 5th edition and have for a few months. I'm playing in an FTF game where I only have a companion character so far, but I just finished up my first magus last weekend. He seems appallingly weak based on what little I know about the system, but this is something of a learning experience...

    Football is of the devil.

I don't know. I suppose if someone wanted to, they could just hang out here on the off-topic forum to participate in the various off-topic threads and not care at all about RPGs. People generally expect someone here to be interested in RPGs though. In any case, that's not what I was talking...

    Football is of the devil.

I've been around it all my life. I grew up and live in Texas, where Football is a second religion. I was the only male member of my family not to like sports. I've spent pretty much every holiday of my life around lots of guys hanging out watching sports and bonding. It doesn't really do...

    Football is of the devil.

Yep. This is a perfect example of what I hate about sports, too. I've generally found that those of us who don't like sports generally just keep it to ourselves. Sports fans don't like to return that courtesy. The moment they get wind of someone saying they hate sports, they immediately leap...

    This is unbelievable...I'm OUTRAGED!!!!

When I was a kid, saying you were bored or even looking bored was pretty dangerous. You better watch out or the mods might find something for you to do... ;)

    Is Larry Elmore still popular?

I am certainly an Elmore fan. His art is what I imagine fantasy to look like and has always inspired my imagination. In particular, I've always liked that his people look a lot more like what I think someone would actually dress like instead of being bristling with spikes and buckles and so...
