    Annual Salary?

It's not that there isn't a pay advantage, which there obviously is, but that the pay advantage often doesn't balance out the lost income from the period of study, particularly since the lost income is from early in your life when the opportunity cost of not having the money is relatively high...

    Annual Salary?

There's usually only a minor pay advantage after a masters unless it's a professional degree.

    Annual Salary?

I spent about 0.105% of my income on RPG stuff last year, which was only ever exceeded by the cost of the trip when I went to GenCon Indy. Free time varies a lot, but it's one of those professional situations where the free time and the job frequently merge.

Riddle/Clue - My Players stay out, please

A bunch of other things aren't really correct for Early Modern English, but it at least makes basic grammatical sense with these corrections.

World of Warcraft RPG - Tried it?

It's great, except every once in a while the DM starts talking real slow and then throws all the players out of the house without warning.

    Jury Duty

Yeah, that's the big problem with it. Power to the people is only as benevolent as the people. At least when the legislature makes a law, it's out there for all to see. The merit of having a bunch of random guys off the street deciding what's just in a secret debate is questionable.

    Jury Duty

No, I mean it's a peculiarity of the English justice system that has been inherited by most of the former colonies, US, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, etc., along the the general framework of English Common Law. Most countries (republics and otherwise) tend to use tribunal systems, where judges...

Does that assume fair market value for jewels, gems, magic items, and assorted loot?

So, are my English writings readable, of tolerable style?

I dunno - am I just reading more closely than everyone else? Turanil's English is pretty good, but there must be a dozen distinct usage quirks in it. Nobody else noticed "or does it look like written by an English native?" More correct: "...or does it look like it was written by a native English...

    Jury Duty

You have to attend if called - it's a fairly serious offense if you don't. The precise method of selection varies with the particular jurisdiction (court authority); usually it's random selection from voter registration or automobile registration lists. A certain pool of prospective jurors is...

So, are my English writings readable, of tolerable style?

It's intelligible and good enough for professional contexts where the writing isn't the main point, but it'll take more work to reach the level where you could sell a novel. You're capable of getting there but your diction needs a lot of refinement. It's always immediately obvious to me that...

Many scholars interpret Vedic texts in that way, but - and I have a similar criticism of the ubiquitous "flood" theories - wars and invasions aren't exactly a rare phenomenon, so I think it's a big jump to say that this mythological war or that mythological war must be a reflection of the...

    Jury Duty

It's a peculiarity of the English justice system. Most republican governments have nothing like it. I'd have to say that the idea of the law being on trial is diametrically opposed to the whole concept too. Juries are about finding fact, not determining the validity of the law. The judge...

EDA? Sounds like you could be in a Certified Ceramics Research Zone before long. Congratulations! And I have about 10-20 ml of spare nanoparticle suspension in an ethylene glycol solution if you want to see what they do in a glaze.

Ancient Aryan civilization achieved incredible technological progress 40 centuries ag

Even invasion is just an assumption. Historical cultural diffusion in Central Asia has shown that numerous technologies (pasta for instance) don't require an invasion scenario to make their way around. The (re)introduction of the horse to North America is another example - many Indian tribes...

Ancient Aryan civilization achieved incredible technological progress 40 centuries ag

There's a big difference between sharing a common ancestral population, which all these population groups clearly don't (or only to a limited degree), and sharing cultural influences, which they obviously do. The major fallacy of white supremacist and Nazi Aryanism is/was conflating language...

It's fairly typical Russian pop science, not meant to be funny, even if it is unintentionally. The notion of a proto-Indo-European-speaking culture originating in Russia is quite popular there for obvious reasons, and it's not without some merit. The term "Aryan" hasn't developed as much of a...
