Dragon - to renew or not to renew

I'm enjoying Dragon and Dungeon, and will continue to subscribe. There is something cool about a magazine subscription that you can't replicate any other way. Remember when your favorite show used to come on television, and you looked forward to it, and the anticipation built, and then the time...

EN World Pigskin Pick'em (Updated 12.27.05 - Week 16 results posted)

I'm 8-4 so far. Looks like my win streak will likely come to an end. Still, way better than I have done in the past.

    Soloing the World's Largest Dungeon

Crothian, if you make modifications to the encounters then I suggest you remove "save or die" spells. Even sleep, with one unlucky roll, and the campaign is over. Otherwise, have fun!

    Unlikely Survivor Locations

They are also unlikely to use any location where it is not hot. I think they want to player to be encouraged to wear little clothing, and to get wet often. Not a complaint, just an observation. So I don't think we will see Survivor: North Pole.

Best Love Songs (and "your" songs)

Funny. I used to sing my boys to sleep to my slightly misremembered/altered version of Joy to the World: Jeremiah was a bullfrog he was a good friend of mine I never understood a single word he said but I helped him drink his wine. He always had some mighty fine wine. Joy to the world all the...

    Survivor: Guatemala 9/22/05

Yeah, I was not surprised that Gary's secret came out so early. Just because he was in the NFL in the past does not mean he is or was a millionaire. Seems like he would be able to explain that to the others. I think he took a dumb risk making this a secret. Which hurts his chances more: 1...

    Survivor: Guatemala

I'm still on the fence on the Steph and Bobby John thing, so I'm not stepping in to defend her, but remember that you are watching a heavily edited reality show. You can't say that someone complained or said anything more than others, before others, or louder than others for certain. When...

LOST - Season Premiere Wednesday 9:00 PM EDT

And didn't Desmond spend some time on a stationary bike as part of his morning routine? How much electricity could he generate by doing that? Good points on the food. After the scene my wife and I had the following exchange: JoeWife: So there's somebody living down in the hatch? JoeBlank: And...

    D&D 3.x 3.0 to 3.5

The game is about having fun. Why not let your players be happy? The 3.0 game I was in at the time of the switch to 3.5 allowed a one-time amnesty period to make character changes. We all explained to the DM why were making certain changes, and he approved them. Little changes in the rules...

Just how geeky are you anyway?

56 % Nerd, 52% Geek, 26% Dork For The Record: A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia. A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one. A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social...

LOST - Season Premiere Wednesday 9:00 PM EDT

My apologies if this has been mentioned before, but I am pretty sure I saw it somewhere else and not here: When Jack's wife-to-be was brought into the ER, and he made the decision to help her insteado of the driver of the SUV she wrecked into, on of the paramedics said "Adam Rutherford, 57...

LOST - Season Premiere Wednesday 9:00 PM EDT

I was pleased. I fully expected, and continue to expect, the solution to each mystery to be another, deeper, mystery. If you want all the answers, go see a movie. For a show like this to continue to keep an audience it has to reveal just enough so that we are not being strung along, but it also...

    Would you buy pre-made campaigns?

Count me in as another guy who likes to DM sometimes but does not have a ton of free time, so I like pre-made campaingns/mega-modules. I'm running WLD now and loving it. It seems that the recent mega-modules have found the nitch that enables them to sell well enough: make a level 1-20...

Are ready made adventures like The Shackled City worth buying?

I bought WLD as a novelty item, and could not resist running it. My players are having a good time too. It seems I am sold on the campaign-in-a-book idea, and may keep going that route. Previously, I would try to squeeze published adventures into an ongoing campaign. I've found that works...

EN World Pigskin Pick'em (Updated 12.27.05 - Week 16 results posted)

Scouting reports, bah! Actually, I've quit my job and am traveling about the country so I can scout teams in person. Saint's practice today was brutal. They kept running the old reverse kickoff return drill, and everybody was stressing about Hurricane Rita. (I'm picking them to lose again next...

My wife and I still observe our "first date" anniversary, but it is easy to remember because it is (almost) exactly 2 years before our wedding anniversary. I say almost because we disagree on the exact date of the "date". We were actually out with a group of friends, but we both knew the...

Best Love Songs (and "your" songs)

Guess I am in good company. "Groovy Kind of Love" is our song, and the one we danced to at our wedding. Although it was not our first date, one of our ealiest and most memorable dates was a Phil Collins concert, outside at Lakewood Ampitheater in Atlanta. We had a great time, relaxing on the...
