It looks like we are switching from 3.0 to 3.5
all members in the group are 9th or 10th lvl

Here's my problem the crying has begun and everyone who does not like what there feat becomes in 3.5 are saying that would never have took it as it now sucks.

So what should I do let them pick all over again? please help!

Which feats in particular are they mad about?

I would let them change them out on a case-by-case basis only. Otherwise you will have them re-creating their character to make them more powerful than they already were(Oh, i never used this feat....let me take another). They made the decision at that time.....if the feat no longer exists, they should have the chance to take something similar...but no changing to something completely different.

If you could list the feats we can help you. Toughness and improved toughness are good examples of feats that i'd allow them to swap (toughness for Imp Toughness) because toughness has never been a feat that was worth taking.

I'd definitely let them pick all over again. Heck, I'd let them rebuild the PC from scratch if they wanted, but that's just me.

What feats are they complaining about? I can only think of one or two that changed in the revision, and they were not common, nor particularly good before the revision.

[Unless you are talking about stuff outside the core rules.]

I had two games switch from 3.0 to 3.5

First guy got like 2 extra feats... Dwarf fighter exotic weapon dwarven War axe, ambidextrous This guy was easy to update.... got a couple of new feats instead

Second guy was an elf rogue/wizard/arcane trickster This guy was a higher level but I think the only stuff that changed was skills (alchemey). I wish I could have redone this guy... took a lot of feats that I never used (forced timeline with no downtime to create items)

If they want to change every feat... well 1000xp per feat change seems fair

The game is about having fun. Why not let your players be happy?

The 3.0 game I was in at the time of the switch to 3.5 allowed a one-time amnesty period to make character changes. We all explained to the DM why were making certain changes, and he approved them.

Little changes in the rules make waves that affect other aspects of your character. My DM is very anit-munchkin, and he actually allowed me to to change my characters stats. I was (and still am) playing a sorcerer, and had plans to take spell focus and possibly greater spell focus, but when these were nerfed I didn't think it made sense to burn the feat. If I had been making the character from scratch under 3.5 rules, I would have made his CHA higher to account for the lack of usefulness of spell-DC-enhancing feats.

I would grandfather in pre-existing feats if the player felt it necessary for his character. If it wasn't unbalancing in 3.0, odds are that it won't be unbalanced in 3.5.
