EN World Pigskin Pick'em (Updated 12.27.05 - Week 16 results posted)

The football gods have smiled on me like never before. In addition to this Pickem, I play a weekly office pool that us usually 15 college and 5 NFL games. In 3 years, I have won one week, but now it is up to 2. It is only $50, but certainly nice. I don't expect this streak to last, but I will...

    Afternoon Adventures and Reluctant Readers

I have the 3.5 Basic Game, and agree with you that it looks even better than the 3.0 version, although I have not actually used it yet. The pamplets sound interesting. I wonder where someone who is not connected with a school would get his hands on the materials that are not otherwise for sale...

new to D&D and running online game

I use Fantasy Grounds, and like it quite a bit. But it is not cheap, especially compared to OpenRPG (free!). My group used WebRPG and OpenRPG for a few years before switching to FG. Online gaming is not for everyone. I suggest you try OpenRPG and if you like it, read about FG and try the demo...

I'm so totally chillin' right now. How about you?

I can't really call my weekend relaxing, but is has been fun and fulfilling so far, and should continue to be so. The wifey is away with friends, so I took the day off yesterday and we fairly laid back with just me and the 3-year-old, while the older two boys were at school. They came home, we...

    Tonight is Threshold

I've been trying to resist new TV shows, but Carla Gugino makes this pretty tempting. The comparisons to Lost help too.

    Survivor: Guatemala

I like that they are started to try to make each season a little different, so I don't mind using Steph and Bobby John. Like in All Stars, the more experienced players have a target to start with, so they will have to play the right angles to stay around for very long. Jim's injury sounded...

    Drinking at the Game Table?

Its a new campaign and your DM offers you the following options

Same race would be my preference. That reminds me I need to keep bugging howandwhy99 to someday run his all-dwarf campaign. I played in a campaign that required each PC to have a certian number of levels in rogue, but we still ended up with a diverse group. We started at higher levels, but if...

On The Origin of D&D Words

Neat article, and a very cool site. Thanks for the link. I'll end up spending hours reading the material there.

Anyone read Robert Adams Horseclans books?

There must be some kind of conspiracy, as I can't find my copies of these books either. Someone mentioned them in a thread here a while back, and I was sure they were at my parents' house, but I have looked there and here and can not find them. I remember enjoying the books in high school.

Just saw scourger's offer and sent an email, but I bet someone has grabbed this deal before I got the chance. Congrats on the new baby, scourger!

    Buy.com 10% cheaper than Amazon!

I have been very happy with Amazon's customer service, and delivery speed, but I know never to pre-order from them. In fact, I think it is faster to just check daily until a product is available and order it then. But I have no idea why.

    D&D 4th Edition Next Year?

Thanks for giving us your insight, Monte. I wish people would listen to this sort of thing and put their 4e fears to rest for a while. To look at it another way, I think if anyone outside of WotC would have forewarning of 4e it would be Monte. And if he even suspected that a new edition was...

Ignore lists are strange to me. I ignore people the old-fashioned way, by not reading their posts when I am not in the mood for it. I just hit the space bar and move on. Of course, I also know that I would end up having no self control. I'd get curious, and have to view the ignored posts anway...

    Not Your Father's D&D

Well, I didn't really answer the question before. I started gaming in the 6th grade. Friends introduced me to the game. My school had a gaming club the included all games, so the chess guys and such were there too. Although she did not let on at the time, my mom was a little paranoid about some...
