SammichCon Creations presents Fire and Brimstone!

This book is a fun read, and so very useful. I've needed rules for lava for a long time, and now I have them!

    Another HUGE FFG 5-day sale.

I picked up the Hobbit board game last year. If you have kids it is pretty cool for them, and a steal at $5.

    Positive energy wanted, STAT!

Damn, Olgar, it is a tough year for dogs. diaglo and Sue lost Molly a few months ago too. Thinking of you guys and hoping he has a full recovery. Got a question for you, now that I think of it. We finally got ourselves a dog, a pointer mix, and she is now about about 6 months old. We followed...

So what 3E adventures were worst?

Agreed. You can't damn the whole adventure on one region, but the fact that it is the very first region does hurt. If I run it again I will seriously rework A, or start elsewhere.

A Big List of EN World Quotes...

I was fortunate to save this one before the big crash: "I urge you to make up a simplified version of the D&D game for play with as many of [your children] as are now willing and able to play. The thrill of the adventure and rolling of the dice is likely to make them devoted gamers ever after."...

Freeport Play by post--bouncing ideas around, welcome suggestions...

How long do you want to keep the parties apart? It might be interesting to start planting seeds now for their eventual meeting. Some mystery figure that one group keeps hearing about could turn out to be a PC in the other party. Just make the clues and information vague enough in the early...

Thanks, DVR set. We have not finished season 2 on DVD yet, but we'll have the first few episodes of season 3 waiting for us when we do.

    Need 1st level adventure recommendation

If you can get your hands on it, NeMoren's Vault is a great 1st level adventure and perfectly geared towards kicking off a campaign.

    Got Practical Guide to Monsters...

I picked up the Practical Guide to Dragons for my son's 7th birthday, and he loves it. Of course, he has played D&D for almost 2 years now, but has not encountered many dragons. Practical Guide to Monsters will probably be a Christmas present. And I need to get him into the Dragonlance New...

Giants: How big should they be in an a Fantasy RPG?

I love that some of these old threads are coming back to life. Large is fine by me for most giants. After all, the Biblical Goliath was only an estimated 6.5 to 9.5 feet tall.

    Gaming with Gygax

Don't let him fool you. diaglo lets us go to -hp in his OD&D game. So there, diaglo. Now we are even for what you did to my dice bag!

I am betting you can pay for upgrades to increase your storage or games per month.

    Does anyone else miss Avatar?

Thanks to this thread, I was reminded that my sons and I still have not seen season 2. We watched the first season on DVD, and were waiting for the second to come out. I think the full season releases later this month. We should have that done in time to start watching season 3.

Voting Results Turned over to the Board.

Agreed. Please announce this on ENW, and elsewhere, so that those of us not going to GenCon can be on the lookout for it.

Harry Potter, D&D, and the children's market

Hey, do I know you? Your statement describes me pretty well. I have three sons, now ages 9, 7 and 5, who all started with DDM, and with the Temple of Elemental Evil PC game, and are now all playinig D&D, with me as DaddyDM.

Harry Potter, D&D, and the children's market

I got my 7-year-old son "A Practical Guide to Dragons" for his birthday, and he loved it. But he has already been playing D&D with his brothers and I. As others have said, a game marketed to kids will likely fail. Kids want to do activities that they associate with being older than their...

    Farewell, my Friend

Adding my thanks to the multitude. Know that if you guys had not done such a great job for the past few years then we wouldn't all be upset over losing our monthly doses of D&D materials. And long live Pathfinder!
