Tools of Two Trades (Weapliment Expertise) Article Up

...now I want to go back to playing an Arcane character, just to take that feat and be better at doing just that.

Tools of Two Trades (Weapliment Expertise) Article Up

I'm rather curious as to how often Wizards thinks players need to roll Diplomacy checks right after hitting with an At-Will attack.

Bladesinger - Weapon as Implement Confusion

On the bright side, because it is playtest, there's a chance that enough people point that out to them, they might do something about it before it gets finalized.

    Weapliment Expertise?

The article (Playtest: Tools of Two Trades, DDI exclusive) is up now. There's not a blanket "Weapliment Expertise" feat, but rather a selection of them. Some of them apply to rather specific combinations, others are a bit broader in their coverage. There are indeed two options that work for...

Bladesinger - Weapon as Implement Confusion

The article is at last up (Tools of Two Trades, DDI exclusive), and even has two different Expertise feats which are viable choices for Swordmages... ...the catch is that the article is labelled Playtest. So the feats are subject to change, and it'll likely be at least a couple months before...

    Dear Wizards of the Coast...

Themes that cover classic fantasy pre-adventuring careers such as blacksmith's apprentice, farmhand, kitchen servant, etc.

Bladesinger - Weapon as Implement Confusion

The catch, DracoSuave, is that Versatile Expertise gets its boosts at 15th and 25th, rather than 11th and 21st as the more modern feats do. Also, the newer feats grant useful perks in addition to the attack bonus.

Bladesinger - Weapon as Implement Confusion

There is an article scheduled for this month's Dragon called: Weapon and Implement Expertise By James Auwaerter Behold! Much-needed feats for characters that wield both weapons and implements. which will hopefully...

Bladesinger - Weapon as Implement Confusion

+4 vs Reflex is the correct bonus. Light Blade Expertise isn't a +1 Feat bonus to attack rolls, it's a +1 Feat bonus to weapon attack rolls. Even though your implent is a weapon, implement attack rolls aren't covered, sorry. Same goes for Weapon Focus. Weapon damage rolls only, not implement ones.

    D&D 4E 4E Feat question

No, sorry. Generally speaking, feats tell you exactly what they do. If they don't say it applies to something, it probably doesn't. Sure Climber only modifies how fast you climb on a successful Athletics check (as well as providing a slight boost to that skill). Edit: Technically, the feat...

    Weapliment Expertise?

The article hasn't arrived yet. It's on the table of contents for the current issue of Dragon, but hasn't shown up on the Content Calendar yet. In theory it should be out next week.

Reasons why going down the Essentials line of thinking is a mistake !!!

At first glance, many people come to the same conclusions you did. However, in practice, the mechanical differences are significant, and the play experiences of a fighter, wizard, and cleric are very different. Do all three get attacks at the same levels? Yes. Do all three work on the same...

Reasons why going down the Essentials line of thinking is a mistake !!!

No. It uses the exact same rules as the other 4E books. It simply contains new versions (not replacements, additional versions) of some of the classes. Some of these versions are, in some ways, simpler than the versions presented elsewhere. Others are not.

Reasons why going down the Essentials line of thinking is a mistake !!!

Both the game I DM, and the game I play in, have both pre-Essentials and Essentials characters played at the same table. In neither case is the player a "beginner with a bunch of veterans".

Can the Vampire Class make new vampires?

My suggestion: write up a vampire article for Dragon. The class could use some feat support anyway. Add in some vampire-themed magic items, some rituals, maybe even a Vampire Lord Epic Destiny that lets you turn your foes into vampires all you want. "When you die, you reappear in your coffin...

Confused about Gear, where can I find armor and items to reward my players

Like Kzach suggests, a one-month sub just to try it out is probably worth it for almost any group (especially if your group is willing to split the cost). Even if it turns out to be something you don't want to stay subscribed to, you'll be able to download all of the 4E Dragon and Dungeon...

Confused about Gear, where can I find armor and items to reward my players

Adventurer's Vault, Adventurer's Vault 2, and the upcoming Mordenkainen's Magnificent Emporium are all gear-focused books (with both magical and non-magical equipment). Of the two vaults, I think the first is the better, but opinions vary. There's also a decent sized selection of magic items...

    Class Compendium Playtest What?

Under the Class Compendium banner, they've done articles for the Cleric, Fighter, Rogue, Warlord, and Wizard. Not under that banner, but taking the same approach, there was a Warlock article. As far as I know, they don't currently have plans to do Paladin or Ranger articles. The Cleric...

Monster Manual Update: Kuo-Toa and Sahuagin

There was one back in June that was Wights and Ghosts. I think it's just a matter of doing only two types at a time, and you might as well do thematically similar types when you do it. Otherwise we'd be here asking "Wights and Kuo-Toa? How the heck are they related?". The July one was...

    Do You Use XP

I've gone back and forth. I DM a 4E campaign, and we've been running through H1-H2-H3. For H1, I followed the module: it calls out at certain points (being fairly linear), that the PC's probably will be levelling at this point or that. So, when they reached one of those points, I let them...
