    Fun to play Characters

Funnest and funniest character ever, Sonovah, my 6th level kobold warmage, very smart, with an egomaniacal personality, and completely foolish. Most powerful and therefore fun character, Eroim, 12th level half-giant gestalt psychic warrior//scout. A one trick pony for sure, but 50d6 damage on a...

Reality Deviant Publications: Submissions Page Updated

I have had nothing but great experiences with Dave. He has been a huge help when it comes to refining the ideas that I submit. If you are open to positive constructive criticism intended to make your projects better, I don't think you can ask for a better person to work with.

    Kobold Wizard

I know this is off tangent, but for pure roleplaying goodness, I played a kobold warmage 6, and he was the life of the party. He did insane amounts of damage, had 6 wisdom and constantly provoked attacks of opportunity, and also had 6 strength which means he didn't even carry a weapon. In...

    Powergaming, who is on board?

As a writer, I create monsters that will be worthy advesaries to even "powergamers". So my monsters tend to be very efficient at a particular tactic. It is up the the GM to then use them appropriately. As a GM, I want the characters to shine, but I want them to feel a sense of satisfaction for...

Dromites from the Expanded Psionics Handbook have +2 Charisma, but they are a +1 LA race.

    [SWSE]Non-heroic levels and CL?

I go with divide by 4. The Star Wars classes are so much more powerful than the Non heroic class.

    Vicious weapon property

Hmm, seems a natural fit for a Frenzied Berserker in a Deathless Frenzy.

    Suggestions for a 8th L Barbarian?

I would suggest you check out the Rage Feats links in my signature, tons of feats for Barbarians. For example, if you want to make a character that charges into battle. Charge of the Cheetah [Rage] You can use your rage to fuel a mighty charge. Prerequisites: Ability to rage, Cheetah Stance...

    Published or homemade adventures?

I usually use premade adventures, and then tweak the monsters in them. I will occasionally add a little homebrewed mini-plot to an adventure if I have a good idea that fits in. More often my contribution to an adventure is figuring how to link several of them together seamlessly.

    Computers at the gaming table

We have one DM who likes to use a laptop when he DMs (we take turns in our 3 person group), it has yet to be a problem for us. Not to mention that access to the SRD is super helpful. Although, I will say we do occasionally get distracted and end up watching movie or game trailers. I think what...

Best Five RPG Books You Own

In no particular order, Expanded Psionics Handbook, Unearthed Arcana, Spell Compendium, and then I actually would have said a subscription to Dragon Magazine and a Subscription to Dungeon Magazine. As it were, I am hoping that I will be able to say that a subscription to Pathfinder will make up...

    Party of Three

There are definitely gestalt class combinations that are more effective than others. If you can have a hand in the creation of their characters, you can definitely help them make better decisions and help them understand what tactics will work best for the character. Depending on what type of...

What's your most surprising go-to DMing resource?

A friend of mine told me that he found inspiration for his campaign from the Book of Mormon. Have to say I would be surprised to have that show up at the table.

Looking for help with motivations of an evil party

Kidnapping for ransom is always a good one. Especially when the plan goes wrong. Evade, embarass, defeat a rival evil organization. Evil parties can have the same motivations as good parties, they just happen to believe their way is the right way regardless of moral, legal, or ethical...

    Dead in one blow

A one hit kill is disappointing, both for the DM that loses a monster without a fight, and for players who lose a character with no chance to prevent it. That being said, it is the mechanic of d&d that allows that to be a possibility. Most often, well applied tactics can prevent the one hit...

Should I allow the Spell Compendium in my campaign?

We use the Spell Compendium in our games and we haven't come across a single spell that has caused a problem. Our group tends to have maximized characters and we face optimized opponents so it is always fun to have something work like it is supposed to because that so rarely happens.

How much do you prepare your adventures, and how good is your "improvisation?"

I like to find multiple pre-made adventures (2-3) that can be used from the same starting point, and then I let the party decide which one they want to do and go with it, less railroading, and still doesn't require a lot of prep time, maybe an hour or two.
