    Challenge Vader

I'm trying to teach him "philosophy". So far, I've stumped him three times with that.

Is picking spells to counter the DM's tactics undermining the fun of the game?

It's a Force effect, so it is actually causing wounds by kinetic damage, shotgun-like. And the reason for which you can't target a hand is... well, I could explain it as the spell locking on a creature's vital pattern, true name or whatever and even tie it in to the fact that it can't miss its...

Is picking spells to counter the DM's tactics undermining the fun of the game?

Personally, if a DM pulled out this kind of "house rule" out of the blue on me, I'd have quit the game there and then. It's unfair because it seems obviously invented on the spot just for you, and if it wasn't you should have been told in advance. And it's double unfair because you only need...

    Size of an army?

In my Warcraft campaign, I'm using 10000 as a number for "big" armies. In the past Dragonlance campaign, I used 100000 for big invasion forces. In my Planescape campaign, Blood War armies can sometimes break a million (with the vast majority being semi-mindless, weak fiends), with the total...

Funny Expressions From Your Neck of the Woods

"You're as strong as powdered vinegar" - told to someone who is boasting a bit too much. "Unloaded" (rough translation) - overpowered, but don't ask me why. My area is also possibly the worldwide capital of verbal blasphemy, with a rather impressing degree of inventiveness, but I think you...

    Dream Campaign

There are several... I'd like to run an Exalted campaign, and a few Paranoia games. Then I've got a few cool ideas for a Cyberpunk/Call of Cthulhu crossover (!) one-shot which I'd love to detail and run sooner or later. And then I'd like to run a "rare magic" (not to be confused with "low...

Are there any D&D modules created soley for the sake of comedy?

It ain't so funny, period. We got TPKed in that adventure and I still don't know how we could have got out of it alive, save by being at least 5 levels higher or by having read the adventure beforehand and metagaming like hell. Near as I can tell, there is no reasonable way to escape a fight...

    Is this character too pwerful?

No. When I DM, it's strictly point buy, fixed HP, and all equipment is bought as per the RAW, exactly to avoid this sort of things.

How do you map? (DMing advice needed)

You test run your dungeons? You're a better man than me. Anyway, I draw maps for the players. The map isn't only what the characters are drawing, it's what the characters see. It would be unfair to just give a description.

Everything Bad Is Good for You

I have played and am playing lots of videogames (but then again, I'm not exactly "denouncing" them). Convincing me that Mortal Kombat or Quake make you smarter in any significant way is going to take something more. A full spoiler guide to the latest Mortal Kombat can be easily as long as a GTA3...

How many arrows does your PC carry? And who keeps count?

I don't keep track of normal ammo, either as a player or a DM, unless the party is low level enough that normal ammo is actually an issue. Otherwise, I assume that the characters have enough ammo to last until they get back to town.

    Your original die

Mine got stolen in Tunisy, along with a whole bunch of Basic D&D stuff, while we were having lunch in a remote restaurant. I hope that at least the thief became a gamer (either that, or that he got eaten by a camel).

What 2nd ed AD&D Adventures are the Best? List them here! (Darksun, Dragonlance, etc)

The Great Modron March and Dead Gods were great Planescape adventures IMO.

Everything Bad Is Good for You

That RPGs are overall good for your mind is something that I've known for a while. I'm not so optimistic about videogames, though. Videogames are much more diverse than RPGs, and a sizable portion of them rely on reflexes alone. Even those that do involve reasoning tend to become very repetitive...

    Anyone got the Dummies book?

I won't bother ordering it online. But if they ever sell it in bookstores in Italy, I will pick it up and use it as a throwing weapon against any player that asks me again whether he can make an attack of opportunity against an opponent that takes a 5' step.

    Harmless Spells

And this is curious because it means that any creature, even a mindless one, has the ability to tell whether it is being targeted by a spell and whether the spell is dangerous or not, regardless of whether it has knowledge of magic or even a brain.

If you could Add one more race to the PHB

"Heroes of Slime, the new hardcover D&D supplement by Wizards of the Coast, will introduce several new races to the game, including the Black Pudding, the Green Slime, and the long-awaited Gelatinous Cube! Also, Oozemaster is now a core class."

If you could Add one more race to the PHB

I think that goblinoids and orcoids (?) aren't in the PHB because in most settings (including the default one) they would be unplayable due to social reasons. In fact, in the "grayhawk-ish" default setting, I think that the PC races are the only ones which can expect to show up in a town without...
