Greatest Insult to a D&D PLAYER (OOC)

The insult that made me the maddest? Being called a "gamist." For some reason, Gamist/Narrativist/Simulationist theory rubs me the wrong way. And I am NOT a gamist, dang it. Tony M

When the magic starts to fade

Awesome. Dying at the feet of a goddess is probably one of the the coolest places for a PC to die. Tony

When the magic starts to fade

No character death, ever? That is the worse houserule for a D&D game I have ever heard. It rules out the possibility of your PC sacrificing her life for a noble cause, or a friend. Tony M

    So we're expecting a baby...

Congrats! If you worry about your daughter being too geeky in school, just dye her hair purple and give her a really cool nickname, like Annarchy. That'll smokescreen her geekvibe. :) Tony M

I Need Advice From D&D Folks...

Darn, I can't read them. The comics show-up as big white rectangles. I'm using the Safari brownser on a Mac...but I've never had a problem viewing any other webcomics, so I'm baffled. Tony M

    Never buy from Lowe's Ever.

Whoa! I *almost* bought my refrigerator from that exact Lowe's a couple months ago, but didn't. WHEW! I shopped at Kaminski's instead (in Jonesburg). It took only a few minutes to do the credit card thingy, and delivery was right on time, and the ice maker was hooked-up perfectly. The lady...

Could a master blacksmith make a zipper?

Good idea, Umbran, and a chance for more flavor. It could be called something like...a dwarven buttonless closer. Or a pocket clencher. Or a Gundilian fastener. Hmm... Tony M

Could a master blacksmith make a zipper?

Thanks for all the replies--they have been illuminating and helpful. Dannyalcatraz mirrors my own thinking. I wasn't thinking of a PC inventing a zipper. I was thinking of having an NPC belonging to one of the longer-lived races invent zippers. I was thinking that a zippered pocket might be...

Could a master blacksmith make a zipper?

Is it possible for a master blacksmith to make a zipper? Would magic need to be involved, to help make the teeth perfectly similar so the zipper wouldn't jam? Tony M

Living with someone of the TV generation

Watch TV with her, then, when a commercial comes on, BLAM, mute the sucker and begin talking about something not related to TV. Also let her know that you'd like her to look at you while you talk during commercials. If her eyes keep drifting back to the tv, say, "honey?" OVER TIME, THIS WILL...

... the pay phone rings. What do you do?

If it wasn't a filthy payphone, I would likely answer it, unless I was carrying something, or it was raining, or I had been injured and was on my way to a hospital, or I was being chased by a dog or several dogs. As I place the receiver to my ear, poison gas puffs from the holes in the...

    A Thought

You guessed right, I am missing the point. I thought you meant one thing in your original post, but you meant something else, something which I'm not quite absorbing. I do agree with Cutter XXIII completely, though. Tony M

    * checks candle * That explains it! :) Y' know, this idea would explain why adventurers don't die from falling a hundred feet. Because, in a D&D-like universe...peoples organs don't splat as easily. Tony M

Alternate physics? So, if a candle lights-up less square feet in an RPG than candles illuminate in our world, that's because that is exactly how candles work in that world? Tony M

    D&D 4E 3rd-Party Publishers' Thoughts on 4E

Uh oh. One of those brainy RPG writers who argues a lot on messageboards has replied to my post to discredit it down to the bloody bone. What could Rasyr’s motive be? The following quotes are from the thread called “Interesting Ryan Dancy comment on lite RPGs“--an interesting thread on...
