    Monks belt

"Fancy magic items"? You talk like having magic in D&D is non-standard. Having them is a big part of the game.

    Monks belt

There's no need to rule-0 anything. The wisdom bonus to AC is only given when you're unarmored. What non-monk is going to be unarmored? Even if they do that, they won't get more AC than the armor they would be wearing, and probably less.

    How are spiked chains carried?

Didn't the big hulk bad-guy in one of the Mad Max films use a spiked chain?

Best Class for a solo player campaign

I always thought a Forsaker would be a good solo character.

    Astral Deva character concerns

Ok, I see what you were talking about now. At 2nd level I saw electricity/fire resistance at 5, then at 3rd level came the immunity. That's as far as I went. I didn't notice that at 9th level there's electricity/fire resistance 10. I'm guessing they meant to say acid/cold there, since...

    Astral Deva character concerns

If you look, you'll find that the Savage Species astral deva gets resistances at lower level and then it is enhanced to immunities at higher level. It's part of the stepped-up advancement process. Also, I thought that Savage Species talked about how some things needed to be changed from a...

Need advice on a Module with politics/Intrigue/Assasination !

IIRC, it's the opening of the 3rd module, Madness in Freeport. Also, be sure to check out the City of Freeport product that really expands the city and its nuances.

    Astral Deva character concerns

Savage Species is for playing a monstrous character. The Monster Manual is for NPCs and adversaries. The Monster Manual does not give advice on how to play an astral deva with a character advancement plan. Unless you can find it, I don't see where it says the MM that their stats are received...

    Astral Deva character concerns

Barendd, thanks for the response; that's good to know. Not all monster classes are created equal, though, even if they have attempted to be balanced :) I just found out the rogue is CN and will be going to Arcane Trickster. I don't think this is going to work out too well at this point...

    Astral Deva character concerns

According to Savage Species p.155, they get no dex increases and they become large at 19th level. They get resistances at lower level and immunities at higher level. I could find no errata for the book.

    Astral Deva character concerns

Another possibility for strife is how the astral deva would deal with a rogue in the party. A chaotic neutral rogue. Where a paladin could look the other way with certain things, an astral deva would probably be more apt to call the rogue on anything he saw was a fault.

    Astral Deva character concerns

Yes, I can elaborate. I wrote something up about it to the players, so I'll just copy it here: Here is about what he'd look like at 5th level: Astral deva: ECL 5; Size M; HD 5d8+15; hp 43; Init +4; Spd 50 ft (base 50 ft), 50 ft fly (average); AC 19 (+4 dex, +5 nat), touch 14, FF 19; BAB +5...

    Astral Deva character concerns

We are starting a new campaign soon with 5th level characters. I flipped through Savage Species to look for something interesting since none of us have tried a monstrous character yet. The astral deva looks really cool, but I'm afraid it will be unbalanced, especially when you see all the stat...

Need advice on a Module with politics/Intrigue/Assasination !

The Freeport series can be very good for politics and intrigue. At one point you're in a big ball and you have to "network" with people and make connections to get the information you need. Fortunately, the module gives detailed explanations for each of the important party members.

    Standing Stone advice

How can you not realize you've lost a level? That must have been a lot of bookkeeping for the DM.
