    Book of Hell: Any thoughts?

About a dozen devils and about a dozen new demons as well, as it deals with their own definition of hell. It also has "demon bikers from hell" sth. that's prolly more suited for a d20modern campaign. there's not a lot of crunch in there, and I don't usually check for correct rules...

    Book of Hell: Any thoughts?

I bought it and I'm a little disappointed. Not because the book's material is bad or anything, but it does not fulfill what it sets out to do, imho. Mongoose advertised it saying that it's easy to incorporate in your campaign, using all the well known devils and so on. I make extensive use of...

An Open Letter to Dragon and Dungeon Readers

WOW!!! That's just great news! AWESOME! Thumbs up to Paizo, Erik and Keith! These are going to be great improvements! That's exactly how I envisioned the magazines: Dragon as the crunch magazine, Dungeon as the fluff magazine! You guys made my day! I dearly hope these changes will work for...

Worst book WotC made for 3.0?

Oriental Adventures. Instead of giving us the tools to create oriental adventures or to emulate Wuxia-films, they bore us to death with a lame re-interpretation of an existing campaign-setting. A section about roleplaying in fantasy-japan would have been fine, but half the book is dedicated to...

(Way OT) How bad is the heat wave in Europe?

It's raining! oh my god... it's raining! Hi Will! I live in Schwabing, near Petuelring (about 200m from the BMW-tower). What about you? tas.

(Way OT) How bad is the heat wave in Europe?

I live in Munich, and the heat here is unbearable. I usually spend the mornings at some lake (thankfully, there are plenty of those 'round here) and in the evenings I go to a beer garden. The problem is that I don't sleep very well in this heat. the apartment building I live in is made of...

D&D 3.x [3.5] Whatever happened to Negative Energy Protection

personally, I never used the spell, but one of my players does. as a kind of "lesser death ward" I still think it can be useful. strange that they chose not to include it. It certainly wasn't imbalanced and for someone w/o acces to 4th level spells it was a viable choice...

D&D 3.x [3.5] Whatever happened to Negative Energy Protection

thanks for your answer, however... death ward existed in 3E as well, as a 4th level spell - it's still a 4th level spell. negative energy protection was a 3rd level spell. did they fold it into one, then? do you know why that is?

D&D 3.x [3.5] Whatever happened to Negative Energy Protection

The title says it all... I can't find the spell (or any equivalent) in 3.5. It's not listed under "name changes", either. so... what about it? where's it gone?

    Inventing Fire Elves...

thanks a lot for your input! These ideas are absolutely great! I like the "stargazing" idea, - I decided to create a knowledge(fire elves) skill that can be taken so that people are able to deal with them. And I completely forgot about the fire template as well. Riding dogs with the fire...

    New Race: Fire Elves

It works pretty much the same as with every other race. An easy approach would be to take a human barbarian from table 2-33 in the 3rd ed DMG - just add the ability modifiers, change the saves and the attack bonuses, and add the spell like abilities/special abilites. That's all there is to it...

    New Race: Fire Elves

I'd actually say that bloodlines of fire would indeed affect their spell like abilites. It would only seem logical, as they cast them like sorcerers. Comparing them to Drow, they seem a little weak, that's right... so, if I start messing 'round with their ability modifiers, how does +2Str...

    New Race: Fire Elves

Taking into account some of your suggestions, how 'bout this version, then? I took away "resist elements" and substituted it with Fire resistance and I added the Bloodline of Fire feat. I also changed their Cold vulnerability to 1.5 and the ECL to +2 - or do you think that with this combo they'd...

    New Race: Fire Elves

Hi everyone! I've been playing around with a number of ideas to represent a unique kind of "fire elves". They are supposed to be strong (looking like red skinned elves on steroids), with, obviously, an affinity to fire. I don't really want them to be dexterous, thus the -2 on dexterity. Which...

    Inventing Fire Elves...

PLAYERS KEEP OUT Hi everyone! I'll soon be starting a new campaign and I'm counting on your help!:) I need to develop Fire Elves. Well, I sort of did most of the work some years ago: Fire Elves are chaotic neutral, they are nomadic, and they have a long and rich history (which I would post...

Dungeon Magazine Pricing Issue (long, sorry)

Thankyou very much for your answer. We obviously don't agree about the usefulness of Poly. However, as you said that Dungeon couldn't stand on its own feet, I'll continue to buy and support Dungeon/Poly. And, to say that again, I greatly appreciate your openness about answering criticism. I...

Dungeon Magazine Pricing Issue (long, sorry)

I greatly appreciate that you read our criticism and answer to it. However, you answered none of the questions I raised- people who like dungeon don't necessarily like poly and the other way round. I, personally, am not whining about the price, per se. Id glady pay even $10 for an issue of...

Dungeon Magazine Pricing Issue (long, sorry)

If Dungeon's survival would depend on Poly, this would be an entirely different situation, indeed. Just out of curiosity, WHO said that the magazine wouldn't have survived last year without Poly? Chris Thomasson or someone else from WotC/Paizo? Do you have a link to that statement? 'Cause under...

Dungeon Magazine Pricing Issue (long, sorry)

What he said. you know, Poly is absolutely useless for me. To me, the ideas that are presented don't seem very novel and interesting, and I don't like the various "d20" spin-offs. As far as I'm concerned, D&D is a one-trick-pony. Fine for fantasy, but not much else. I know and respect that...
