    Simplified mass combat rules

Yes, it is extremely limited. Not something to use if there will be frequent mass combat in your campaign. But if you're not running a campaign that features mass combat, and your adventure expects the PCs to sneak around the hobgoblin army, but instead they unite the local kobold tribes and...

    Limited Wish and Metamagic Feats

I would allow limited wish to duplicate a spell modified by a metamagic feat, but only if it was still under 6th level after the level adjustment of the metamagic feat, and only if the caster has the metamagic feat in question. I would allow Wish to duplicate a spell with a metamagic feat the...

One big bad vs. the party. How to?

He'll need a quick way of thinning the herd, as it were. He needs to disable or immobalize multiple party members on his first action or he won't have much of a chance.

    Simplified mass combat rules

Check it out: http://www.cheapass.com/free/games/rotgb.html I'll post the basic rules here: It's simple and elegent enough that I think I'll use it for the rare times such a battle will be happening in my D&D campaign.

    What about Parents?

I hope it's the norm, but I know there are some really hard-core anti-D&D people out there, and some of them have kids... So you're bound to find some people here who don't tell their parents that they play, or whose parents disapprove, or whose parents have destroyed their D&D stuff. My dad was...

    Sundering a Bow?

When the bow is shooting flaming, electrically-crackling arrows that are killing at least one - and sometimes 2 or 3 - of your allies every single round, you start taking it seriously. :P

Order of the Bow Initiate - quick question

This is a somewhat vague question... but one of my players is asking me via email if he can take a level in this PrC, but I'm not familiar with it. He's currently a 5th level fighter (can a 5th level fighter qualify for this PrC?), twinked out for archery. Already his damage potential per round...

    Is The Web Spell Broken?

I agree with you. I envision the strands of the web to be very thin, which makes it more believable. Imagine how a hair reacts when you pass it over a small fire. It burns to nothing in a flash, but not long or hot enough to light anything near it on fire.

    The terms 'fluff' and 'crunch'

I like them. Every part of an RPG book seems to easily fit into one of the two categories, and they're terms everybody recognizes.

    Help!!!

It can be confusing at first. :) I remember when I had the old Red Box Basic D&D set, trying to figure out the rules. :) Stick with it and you'll discover a wonderful hobby. The cost-to-enjoyment ratio is unparalled. I don't have much to add in the way of useful suggestions... Maybe you can...

    monsters with epic feats

That's because the ELH hadn't been written yet when they designed those entries, silly.

Which Campaign Setting has the best fluff? Why?

I like Kalamar, but I have to admit bias. It's the setting with which I am most familiar. I've scarcely read any FR stuff, and my knowledge of Dragonlance is limited to the original 3 novels. I had the Grayhawk boxed set when I was a kid. And all the other ones people have mentioned, I have no...

Piratecat's Updated Story Hour! (update 4/03 and 4/06)

Her bustline was so legendary, they named a National Park after it.

(WotC/d20) How many books (NOT PDFs) do you own?

Sheesh, I even counted my Kenzer stuff and I only have 8... I think I'm understanding why people don't want to run core-rules-only games. They'd feel like they wasted their money on all their extra books!

Cleric/wizard spontaneously dropping arcane spells for cures?

Yes, it's been there since the beginning of D&D. The single most significant difference between wizards and clerics has been that only clerics can casting healing magic. If wizards can have access to healing spells, why can't clerics have access to fireballs and whatnot? And then, what is...

Wizards Gaining Two Spells When Gaining a Level - How do you do it?

Whatever keeps the game running smoothly. :)

Wizards Gaining Two Spells When Gaining a Level - How do you do it?

A chime sounds, pretty sparkly lights flash, and the wizard instantly has 2 new spells in his spellbook, plus a greater number of spell slots, more skill points, more hit points, and potentially more feats and greater ability stats.

Books pricing themselves out of reach?

They will be sold for whatever price people will be willing to pay. If fewer books get sold becuase of the higher prices, then the prices will be lowered. I imagine the boooks you are looking at are being marketed towards middle-class families with dependable jobs and plenty of disposable...
