    Monk Revisions

Never said it wasn't a cool and useful ability. :) It is however fairly useless if you're intending to use it in a combat situation. It's one of the best skills for sneaking around though. You're on another plane, so most things can't see you. Sure, you can't see as well either, but that's why...

    Monk Revisions

It takes a standard action to go ethereal though. Also, the enemy caster is just as immune to you as you are immune to them while you're ethereal. Yippee! I can stand around on this other plane for a while and do absolutely nothing, but my enemies usually won't be able to hurt me... Except for...

    Spontaneous Meta-Magic Healing

Even at level 7, cure serious wounds is much better than a maximized cure light wounds. 11-39 (average 25) compared to a flat rate of 13. That trend is the same way for any of the cure spells. Empower doesn't work as well as just going to the higher level spells does. Edit: Forgot to mention...

    Monk Revisions

A 20th level Monk has 30 SR. A 20th level caster's caster level check to beat SR is 1d20 + 20, average of 30.5. This means that the spellcaster at that level that has done *nothing* to try to beef up their anti-SR ability has a 55% chance of beating it. That same caster who's picked up Spell...

Does D&D combat break the fantasy?

You expect your group of level 3 characters to be able to take down an EL 5 challenge in *two* hits (one for each guard)? Unrealistic expectations, to be sure. A single casting of sleep has better chance of taking down both guards at once than attacking them. A DC of 14-15 should be expected...

Under what circumstances does DR protect against spell damage?

Edit: Misread the initial post. Yeah, I agree with what's been said.

Question about the feat "Spell Mastery"

Temporary boosts do not affect skill points gained per level unless the boost is there for the majority of the level previous.

Question about the feat "Spell Mastery"

Whenever your Intelligence score goes down you do not lose skill points, just as you do not gain extra skill points for an immediate increase. (Not until you level, as long as it had been effective for the majority of the previous level.)

    Ride-by-attack and reach

I can't remember where it was posted. Someone posted an email reply from the Sage I think. I also believe it's written as such in the SRD too.

    Ioun Stone and Bull Str

They overlap. Both are enhancement bonuses, so they don't stack. Edit: Yes... coffee would be nice. Ugh. That's what happens when you retype a post four times. I made the same mistake three more times, but actually corrected it before I retyped it... Hmm, coffee... right.

    Ride-by-attack and reach

You are. The Ride by Attack feat is pretty clear that you don't provoke an AoO from the defender while using that action. If it changed when the defender has reach that would be stated explicitly in the description of the feat.

    Help an unmotivated player

Why's this in the rules forum?

In light of recent events by Avalanche Press (Company bashing not desired)

Well, at least Avalanche doesn't plan on suing people who give them bad reviews. Don't think it's possible? A company has filed a $15M lawsuit against a person for giving a negative review of their company on a mailing list. Want more information? Click here. It could be a lot worse.

Something really damn funny from Arms & Armor...

Darkness can only be cast upon objects, not creatures. There's a really easy fix for that, but it's still really amusing in a damn I'm bored kindof way.

    Unconscious = "willing"?

The domination part is pretty easy, but knocking them out? That'd be the more difficult part by far.

    Balanced medium martial spear?

Could always make it either 1d8 with 20/x3 crit without the reach of a longspear. It's definitely (in a way) weaker than the longspear is, but anything more than that would likely make it overpowered.

How much do oversized golems cost?

Someone in the creatures forum found a common link between all of the golem pricings. I believe the cost of a stone golem was 10000 gp + 5000 gp/hit die. This is the same for iron golems too. Flesh and clay golems both cost 5000 gp + 5000 gp/hit die. I think that's what they are. Those do work...

Magic double weapon cost loop hole?

Spiked chains are not normally double weapons. Being able to use the weapon as a double does not actually change the weapon into a double weapon. So, you only need to enhance your weapon once, because it's still only a single weapon. Originally posted by Ferret: When posting page references...

The Book of Vile Darkness - it is mine, review within

Very cool. Thanks Ray! I think you may have just sold a book. :) Well, I'll definitely be looking for it at my local gaming stores. Again, thanks for the info. It sounds like a fun book to add some weird twists to your NPC's.

The Book of Vile Darkness - it is mine, review within

Time to add my two cents (or more). First of all, I don't really care how they statted out the archfiends and such. I'll look them over and use the stats if I like them, but I won't lose any sleep over it if I don't. What I'm more interested in is the entire book. How useful do the feats seem...
