Interesting Ryan Dancey comment on "lite" RPGs

I think it's likely a mistake to equate lack of mechancial complexity with newbie friendliness when it's really conceptual complexity that's the bugbear. RPGs are a unique form of game in their open-endedness; in all the other games you start playing as a kid (other than cops and robbers) you've...

[Necromancer Games] Wilderlands Boxed Set Preview!

Very cool -- I like the 5 mile per hex scale on the map and the inclusion of special encounter areas.

    True20

Looks like everything but character names and place names.

I have Buffy so why buy Angel?

    More photos of Charisma Carpenter?

    Northern Crown Preview/Intro

Yah -- really looking forward to this. Nice preview too.

Grim Tales with Sovereign Stone Magic: Will this work?

Seems nice and that's a great idea -- SS already has a low magic feel and I think it's easier to scale the power level.

[2WS] Masters of Arms released as PDF and Metacreator Support

Thanks everyone! Yah, adding in Action points works particularly well since that gives players a little edge when they want to pull off the big maneuver. Now I'm going to go spend Alan's money on some more 0one blueprints.

[2WS] Masters of Arms released as PDF and Metacreator Support

Hola folks, I've released a PDF version of Masters of Arms through RPGNow. While the new release has been updated for 3.5, the changes made were minor -- essentially just deleting any prerequisites that were eliminated in 3.5. Since it's a PDF, I also reformatted it to use a bit less ink if...

    RPGnow on the fritz

No issues here either. I swear -- technology just keeps making it easier and easier for me to spend what little money I have.

[Adamant Entertainment] Hot Pursuit: The Definitive D20 Guide to Chases

Very nice! I've been looking for something like this for quite a while. Would it be possible to release a more printer friendly update? The borders and some of the larger images are going to eat up some ink.

    Popular Pick?

Bronze, silver, and gold, or something other than numbers seems like it would be better for boosting sales -- I suspect even stellar results, like 250, might not be that impressive to a potential customer.

Øone Games release a new Blueprint: The Drow Outpost

Just wanted to chime in and say that the blueprints series is terrific. I've purchased the previous releases and really appreciate the added control over the printout.

Necromancer Q&A: Let's ask Orcus some questions!

Not very long at all for the switch. I just purchased the watermarked version of Lost City of Barakus. Watermarks are very unobtrusive, just down in the corner. The file size was large (31 MB) but it's a large book with a lot of maps and art, so I'm not sure if the watermarking had an...

    SLAVELORDS OF CYDONIA availability

Roger that. On further investigation my current local gaming store (Dragon's Lair in San Antonio, TX) not only has Grim Tales -- not only stocks 3 of the HoHF books -- but also has Grim Tales facing out!

D&D 4E 4e - Forseeing the shape of thing to come?

Both those sound right to me. I also hope, desperately, that they add in class based defense bonuses and apply them to monsters. A) Practically every core number goes up with level except armor class, so certainly it's justified to include a defense bonus. B) It gives you one more point of...

    SLAVELORDS OF CYDONIA availability

Hola Wulf, I was wondering if Slavelords is supposed to be showing up in stores soon (or already). It seems like it's already available via your site and I'm worried that my local stores are just doing the don't-stock-anything-I-want shuffle. If it's going into distribution then I'll wrestle...

    D20 Glut Bubble Bursts

I think this is also part of the reason PDF publishing is doing better -- online is the only place you can consistently get distribution. As a customer, online is also the only place that I can buy a lot of the books that truly interest me.

[World of Warcraft] I've started an EN World Guild! (12-25-04)

I signed up a couple days back as Gipper, a human paladin. But I'm favoring my night elf druid, Umbranic, at the moment -- so that's who I'm usually signed on as. I might need to re-sign for the guild as Umbranic, but it only allows one charter character per player so we'll see how that works.

Not necessarily famous d20 game designers

Charles "Blood and Fists" Rice has been doing a bunch of great work for RPGObjects.

    Recommended MnM house rules/errata?

I was thinking of a variation on the Power Level cap where characters could possess more ranks than their cap allows but all ranks above the cap are halved, rounding down. I figured that might allow a little more variation in characters. Also, even at 2 for 1 skills felt a bit expensive...
