    Rezzing

This one works in some cases -- but not that often I think. For one thing, pretty much anybody who's getting assassinated is getting assassinated because they're in the middle of doing some important business that the bad guys don't want them doing, whether that's fairly running a kingdom or...

    Rezzing

One thing I'd like to see changed is the default setting for raise dead and similar abilities. I'm generally okay with rezzing for players, but for NPCs it causes a lot of problems for DMs. All your plots where this or that fellow gets assassinated require either a bunch of special planning --...

D&D 4E Poll: Who Would LIke to See the Drow in 4E PHB?

I think the core rules should allow you to play the iconic/most popular characters featured in the setting's fiction (or, for high level characters, eventually) -- so I voted yes.

    hi there

Hola, I'm afraid I don't have plans for any new books and I'm not sure when I'd have time for anything new. But I'd like to look into updating at least some of them for 4th edition.

[Adamant Entertainment] THRILLING TALES: Crimson Emperor Serial Adventure

Very cool -- finally another adventure path for something other than fantasy! (I think the only other one so far is Against the Wastelords for Darwin's World). What level range is the full path expected to cover?

Is weapon and armor "proficiency" system REALLY necessary?

I think it's worthwhile and flavorful to have some kind of distinction between trained combatant types and support folks. And I like unusual weapons being something that require special training, so that the spiked chain user or bastard sword can use that as one additional way to set them...

Where the #$%$^ is Stuff on D&D Insider?

Yah, the box works well. I just think it's what the entire middle column ought to be.

Where the #$%$^ is Stuff on D&D Insider?

They actually do have a fair bit of content -- 10 articles in the last week alone. The problem is that it all gets jammed into one tab on that small middle box. If I want to find out what's on the D&D website, it's actually better for me to come to ENWorld's front page -- otherwise it's easy...

Where the #$%$^ is Stuff on D&D Insider?

Thanks for the links tlantl. Since they're doing an online magazine format, it'd probably be best to look at the big online mags since they've already tested a bunch of layouts and have probably gotten past the ones that fail. Both Salon and Slate look like they've gone with the fairly...

Where the #$%$^ is Stuff on D&D Insider?

I tried to go looking for the Hawt Beardless Dwarven Warlock Lady mentioned in this ENworld Thread -- got to the D&D Insider site , and had just no luck. I went to the GALLERIES link off the main page figuring that would help, but then noticed that it's alphabetically ordered with articles...

    Advanced HexCrawling

The hex-tiles idea is totally cool! One idea I've been wanting to explore for a while is to get away from the boxed/booked campaign setting and just start the players off in some small, harried town or village. No world maps, really no regional maps other than "go that way for a few days and...

Points of Light and the Forgotten Realms

That's an interesting section. I wonder to what extent someone like Salvatore guides the structure of the Realms, and to what extent he follows it. I'd imagine that WotC does and should let their most popular writers take the lead in this regard -- after all, the reason they're popular is that...

D&D 4E Why Vancian spellcasting is good for the game (and should mostly be in 4e)

Alternately, just go back to the source fiction and make the ring of invisibility an artifact :D

WotC: Do NOT tie Action Points to level advancement!!!

I'm sort of fond of the action points tied to level -- since you get xp and levels for accomplishing goals, you create an environment where the incentive is action in order to replenish their action points. A per day or per session replenishing rate makes the incentive inaction -- or doing...

Points of Light and the Forgotten Realms

I'd enjoy seeing this new take on the Realms and be far more likely to run a game set in it if they switched to a more wild/frontier motif. I think it'd also do a nicer job justifying the players' role than the sort of default "Elminster and all the other 30th level characters are too busy"...

The default campaign world - new article

The default setting in 3E listed no cities, no place names, no kingdoms, not even any terrain. For all we know it already was a points of light setting! If that's the way it's going to be in 4e then why bother mentioning it at all since it will have zero impact on the text? I assumed that...

The default campaign world - new article

I'll be interested to see if/how they change the Forgotten Realms to fit into this model, since I suspect that must be where the points of light are going to be implemented. I can't imagine it making any significant difference in the core books. Otherwise they ought to have a new campaign...

Anyone tried DnD tactics yet? (PsP)

Just a short follow up -- I'm pretty sure that metamagic just provides a benefit to all your spells. I picked up extend spell and there wasn't any option to kick my first level spells to 2nd and extended. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to check the duration remaining on my spells in-game...

Anyone tried DnD tactics yet? (PsP)

The Onebookshelf site change produced a windfall cash out from DriveThruRPG for me, so I was able to score a PSP -- largely for the purpose of getting D&D Tactics! (But Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords and Metal Gear Acids are really cool too). I've been holding off posting any sort of...

    [Rogue Games] Stranglehold Taps Out!

Sorry to hear about that -- and I bet if you could afford a lawyer the case wouldn't stand a chance in hell in court, especially given that your games are about entirely different things, in different media, and it's not as if Stranglehold is some brand new invented term (there are, in fact...
