    Other Variant Player's Handbooks

So, when I first read the announcement for AU, I thought it was the best idea, exactly what I needed. When it came out it was as cool as I had hoped. Now Malhavoc has announced another variant/alternate PHB in Iron Lore. This too looks awesome. AU and IL approach the PHB concept from...

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo's GameMastery, where's the hubbub?

Thanks for the reply Mr. Strohm! I am glad to hear that there will be a variety of tools to help us poor overworked DMs.

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo's GameMastery, where's the hubbub?

I guess that is part of what I wanted to know. How often are we going to see these things? Is the purpose of the line to deliver scenarios like "Dark Elf Sanctum" with map boards and miniatures, or is there more to the line? The press release mentioned something like "aids to help a...

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo's GameMastery, where's the hubbub?

Hm. Thought this would draw more interest. Well, looking forward to an update from Paizo on this line.

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo's GameMastery, where's the hubbub?

Yeah, the metal miniatures are what really surprised me about this. I wonder how many there are in each set, and the quality of the sculpts. This whole thing seems like an idea I've seen thrown around for awhile, I hope it works out to be as good as it sounds.

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo's GameMastery, where's the hubbub?

I know I have been caught up in the excitement over things announced at GAMA: Iron Lore, Colossal At-ATs, Shackled City HC, Best of Dragon, etc. But the announcement Paizo made about their new line, GameMastery (http://paizo.com/paizo/news/v5748eaic9jwx), seems to have no discussion at all...

Books pricing themselves out of reach?

I think I missed Joe's point, and I think I agree with it. Role-playing books do seem to be getting too expensive for casual purchases, and I think that does make it more difficult for younger people to get into gaming. I know it is kids that have the most disposable income, but game BOOKS...

alternative to drow in Giants/Vault of the Drow series

How about aranea? They are rarely used in published adventures/accessories and still have the whole spider-thing going on. Better yet, they aren't even all evil, you can easily create sympathetic aranea to aid the pcs (or set them up for a later take-down).

Books pricing themselves out of reach?

The rising price in RPG books (admittedly fairly modest in comparison to other products) has forced me to drastically reduce my purchases. Now, I can handle that. It is a game I like, and I can certainly play it with the dozens of books I have for decades to come. My concern is for the people...

    AE extra material

    AE extra material

Man, I wish AE would reach my FLGS soon. . . Anyway, as to your question: Grimoire and Players guide are incorporated into AE (grimoire was the original download of the spells from AU). Grimoire 2 is, I believe, all the spells from montecook.com and from the eldritch might series done up for AU...

    Score!!!

Congratulations on your score! I had almost the exact same situation about 5 years ago. I saw it at the Source in St. Paul for $50, I knew my wife (very recently married at the time) would not be happy if I spent that much on a used D&D book. I went home, told her about it and she said "Go...

    Sandstorm Art Gallery

I have to agree on the art, I was very happy to see Chuck Lukacs, William O'Connor, Mitch Cotie, Lockwood (even if only one pic, but a dragon!) and some of the others that are pretty decent. I guess I'm a bad person because I was even more ecstatic to see no Crabapple, Jarvis, and especially...

    Do you game in Greyhawk?

I DM primarily in Greyhawk right now. I use the LG Gazetteer and the D&D Gazetteer. Oddly, I never once played Greyhawk until 3rd edition. For OD&D I used the Known World (Mystara later), for 1st ed it was only homebrew and a brief foray into Dragonlance. 2nd ed was all homebrew and...

    Hardbounditis

I gotta say I'm torn on this one. I'm a sucker for the cult-of-the-Hardcover, they look nice, they stand up to wear and tear pretty well, and they just feel a bit higher in quality. However, all these hardcovers have made me broke. I know they are only a little more expensive than softcover...

Top Ten Reasons to Buy Sandstorm

This is exactly what I think of. Maybe I'm a little to obsessed with a show that has been off the air for six years. . . On topic, the sandworms and other Dune-ness make me sad. I love Dune, I wanted the Dune D20 book more than anything, but seeing such a transparent hijack of Dune stuff...

When I die, bury me with my dice!

One of my best friends died a few years ago, in fact he was the person who brought me into the AD&D fold (I had been in the basic-D&D camp prior). One of his characters' sheets was put in the casket with him (I think some dice as well, but I'm not so sure). He was cremated, some of the ashes...

    D20 Vaporware

Dune D20. The announcement for that got me to get the 3.0 PHB, just to see what the D20 system would be like. I have no regrets about getting back into D&D with 3rd ed, but Dune would have just been so cool. Also Bard's Gate, I have given up entirely on that though.
