Are 4e feats far less exciting than 3.x?

I strongly disagree with you, sir! I find 4E feats only marginally less exciting than 3.x. Good day!

    Reading 4e

Andor makes his/her opinions on 4E known, often. That's fine. It's phrases like: "4E is unpolished and dull," and "Everyone's a Wizard" that put people on edge. These are opinions posited with no thought towards really showing that they're only opinions. It's about as annoying as the...

    Reading 4e

You mean people can get bored reading D&D/RPG books? Seriously, though. 4E is pretty boring to read. For the most part, the nitty-gritty of any game system is boring, or at least too pedantic to thoroughly enjoy. I thought we gamers prided ourselves to find a marginal amount of enjoyment...

    Wild Shape, What's Yours?

I'm going to go ahead and jump on the bandwagon of "My Wild Shape will be whatever the heck I need it to be at any time," because I like versatility. The Far Realms stuff is pretty cool, though. Fits well with a character I have right now, a re-flavored Barbarian.

    I like Roles

You are, of course, entitled to your opinion. In my experience, this hasn't been the case at all. :) In fact, 4E is the first time I really took a look at certain classes and said "Hey, those look like fun!" Usually, I just bounced on by and picked up a more "eccentric" class, i.e...

    What is missing from 4E

And that's any of your business why? :erm: So, the Warlord is bad because they're not a good class to play alone...except I could think of some pretty kick-ass solo campaigns involving a Warlord. Throw in some skill training, have him/her travel around on diplomatic missions, getting into all...

    What is missing from 4E

Ooo, snappish. I didn't see him conceding anything. I kinda-sorta see where you're coming from, rounser, and I'm sure some others have made concessions as well. I however, don't think 4E sacrifices flavor at all. AT ALL. If you're going to do a solo campaign in 4E, your hero will be just as...

    Playtest: The Druid (merged)

So, this class has some AWESOME At-Wills. Not that every class doesn't, but the Druid, so far, really stands out. Just like the Barbarian. So maybe Primal classes will focus on the At-Wills? That and the theme of "transformation" (and perhaps a reliance on Con) seems to pop up the most.

    German language help.

In all fairness, I haven't used my German extensively in two years, and it's a time-traveling Nazi U-Boot...I think the rules of German grammar can bend for the fatherland this once. ;)

    Playtest: The Druid (merged)

Maybe they're restructuring the Primal classes to all share the common trait of using a non-common ability to AC. I'd be down with that. As to what we've been given: I'm digging it, but I'd need to see one in play. Switching from Beast Form and back so often in combat...hrm. I'm just...

    German language help.

:D Zeitgeist is actually pretty good, the literal translation being "the spirit of the time." Namenlos = Nameless (adjective, but also paradoxical!) Unterzeit = Under-time Todzeit = Time-death, time of death If you want to do some research on your own, the dictionary I recommend is...

    What is missing from 4E

That is all, of course, you're considered opinion, right Bill? ;) Because I've had the opposite feel with 4E: the powers and abilities granted to the heroes put them far above normal ken, just like any other edition of D&D. It definitely still feels like high-fantasy to me! :)

    'Fairy tale' fantasy RPG settings?

Grimm Grimm might work for you, but it's supposed to be crazy dark and moody. Not really Hogwarts-y...well...not like the first 4-5 books, at any rate.

    Languages in your game

Yeah, just have them be responsible enough not to use what they can't understand. A lot of gaming groups (some of mine included) start off by separating people constantly, but that gets kind of irritating. If the other players want to attempt to figure out what's going, have them make Sense...

    Is tactical Warlord really blowful?

On second thought, yeah, frank nailed it on the head. Warlords need a good number of allies to be effective.

Aces and 8's is pretty darn slick!

The Western genre has an INSANE amount of history behind it, tons of source material, and some of the best media out there. Watch a few episodes of Deadwood, drink in the atmosphere, and go crazy. Stylistically, I'd keep it episodic, but there's no reason you have to. Maybe run a practice...

Unarmed Rogue AV & MP (Look its a monk!)

Let's keep this thread low-key, or else WotC will read and decide they don't need to make an actual Monk class. ;) Reflavor the Sneak Attack as a pressure-point strike and away we go!

    What is missing from 4E

That's not good enough and you know it! ;) As for the swingy-power thing, I'm definitely not missing it, but I see where people are coming from. Sometimes you like to be able to commit fantastic acts of awe-inspiring madness just by sneezing. Everyone can get behind that. I don't think 4E...
