    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

Thank you, ph0rk, for that link! I lived through most (but not all!) of that, but I got a kick out of reading it and appreciated Cambion's application of the warlock...but count me in as one of the one's looking forward to getting a psionicist and also looking forward to Dark Sun (the 2nd...

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

Well said. I concur. Also, I would love to see Wizards publish a new rpg, especially a sci-fi one! ❤️

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

Ok, thank you for the clarification. Again, as I and Marandahir (and likely others) have said earlier in this thread, I think Wizards has been clear that they are not evaluating the game based on these terms, but rather use a story-based method. Personally, I think expressions like "giving...

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

And, Tetra, my colleague, after reading this sentence five times, I am not optimistic about my ability to decipher it. I have been reading your posts for pages in this thread and can tell that, likely, English is not your first language, so my hat(matter) is off to you for participating in the...

Ok, I hope not too. We'll see in a few years.

Fascinating. Well, we'll see. Here's hoping that Wizards continues to publish great work and, hopefully, make Minigiant happy!

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

Ok. We can check in a few years and see if Wizards is floundering. I hope Wizards will begin to publish the kind of books that you and others to whom you are referring desire.

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

I do not follow this logic, Minigiant. How do repeated efforts to revise the Ranger prove that "a large percentage were not satisfied"? Comments by Jeremy Crawford and other designers actually suggest otherwise...there were many who like the PHB version of the ranger and, as a consequence...

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

Well said. And, what came out in Tasha's was better than the early Unearthed Arcana attempts at Ranger revision (and was able to be presented in the context of new options for all of the classes, which is quite nice)...so the methodical approach that tested role-players' response before...

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

I do not have a crystal ball and I do not know what Wizards is planning to publish. But, if they ever did publish a Dragonlance setting or a Greyhawk setting of some kind or even a Spelljammer book :) I would be surprised if those books included an equivalent to supernatural gifts. As Marandahir...

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

I am not seeing the basis of your assumption, Minigiant, that only republishing former settings will lead to an increase in book sales. Wizards of the Coast was increasingly selling more books even as it was publishing new adventures in Avernus as much as it saw continued increase in sales by...

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

Perhaps...speaking for myself, I am not seeing the advantage of this kind of consolidation. It is ok for the game to grow and for new books to emerge with new options. I think the PHB is a fine introduction to the game as is (once completely new people have been introduced to a simpler version...

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

Without a doubt, Marandahir. Any artist will affirm that what is left out can be as vital as what is introduced. It is the Mos Eisley quality of some popular depictions of D&D that led my latest campaign to be set in 1581 Elizabethan England with the fantastic slowing encroaching in upon the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

Well said. Of course (and I suspect that you would not preclude this), there is the opportunity in the future for such a class should the appropriate story element resonate with fans and designers.

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

Here is someone speaking my language. Yes! I concur! :) A game can develop without having to periodically being taken apart and rebuilt and then years being dedicated to printing new editions of books that I already have different versions of on my shelf.

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

Wow, Marandahir, I should have read further down the thread before writing my response to Minigiant. You hit all the points I made, even mentioning the possibility of a Psionicist in the future (which I have written about in other threads here on Enworld). I think you have captured the ethos and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

Perhaps it is gone. But, I recall Jeremy Crawford saying a few times in DragonTalk interviews that no idea is gone and that the Wizards of the Coast designers love to go back to ideas that were not embraced and revise them until the team finds the correct iteration that is embraced. The Rune...

    D&D 5E (2014) Volo's 5e vs Tasha's 5e where do you see 5e heading?

Yes, Mercurius. This is what I was attempting to communicate as well in the previous couple pages. The Wizards design team was quite forthcoming about their different design assumptions both as D&D Next was being developed and then as 5th edition was released. To criticize an endeavor based on...
