What is Roleplaying like to you?

A social event/Reading a good book I agree with the sentiment that D&D is about a group of friends getting together to play. So, like almost everyone else, I selected A social event. As for how I feel after (or during) a game, I feel like I do after reading a couple of chapters of a good...

    Help me build a psion?

Improved Toughness is good, but like Thanee said, a Psion can't take it until 6th level. Psionic body is available up front. Psionic Body is a good way to "front load" hp. If a human psion were to take Psionic Body and two other psionic feats (Psicrystal Affinity and Narrow Mind, for...

Information on Asylum - the Adventure Path finale

Saw this on the Paizo site for Dungeon Issue #116: Asylum by Christopher Perkins In the final chapter of the Shackled City Adventure Path, the heroes abandon the Material Plane to seek out a demon lord imprisoned in a bizarre asylum on the Prison Plane of Carceri. There they do battle with...

The Temple of Elemental Evil - your experiences?

I was a player. My character was a human fighter TANK... the DM watched as I rolled an 18 00!! (He said it was the first time he actually saw anyone roll a 00.) I had just arrived in Korea, December 1992, so we were playing 2 ed. The party had already completed the moathouse, so I missed...

DMs: What are your Post-Adventure Path plans?

Okay, the last installments of the Shackled City Adventure Path are coming up over the next couple of months. Has anyone that is running the campaign made plans (solid or otherwise) on what to do after the last adventure is finished? When I first started running the adventure path, my plan was...

Shackled City, "Zenith Trajectory" -- Players' Perspective?

As a DM, I ran two groups through the first five adventures. There were times that I felt that I had to go easy on the party, but my players know the rules really well, and they know what most creatures can do, and they get mad at me if I go easy. It's better to have a TPK in fair combat than...

What's the best looking HUGE D&D miniature?

Oooh! I totally agree. My character died a couple of months ago and got reincarnated as a bugbear (rolled an 01... I have a witness!). I didn't like the bugbear minis that I had. But now I rock!!!

    Quick: What was the last...

    1. Movie you saw? Spiderman 2. My wife's now 8 months pregnant. We don't get out a lot right now. 2. Book you read? Stormchaser, and Beyond the Edgewoods before that. Very cool. 3. Album you listened to? LOL. The Wiggles. My three year old was in the car with me. Honest. "Hot...

Verboten! What do you NOT allow in your campaigns?

Like many already said: No evil. No evil PCs. No evil spells. Other than that, I try to be extremely accomodating to the players. I pretty much agree to most of what the players want for their characters, as long as it matches how they role play the said character. My latest reject to a...

Shackled City Adventure Path Questions (New Question)

You can also check out this thread that some have already posted. With a group of 5-6 PCs, you shouldn't have to adjust any of the encounter levels, but you might end up running short side quests to keep your characters levelled up to the level of the adventures.

What's the best looking HUGE D&D miniature?

Out of the huge-sized miniatures (sounds like an oxymoron, doesn't it?) which one do you think is the best looking? I really like the Bulette. Though fairly simple in design, I like everything from the pose, color and the simple density makes it appear daunting.

    New Adventure Path

Here 'ya go: #97 -- Life's Bazaar, inlcudes a pull-out poster map of Cauldron #98 -- Flood Season #102 - Zenith Trajectory #104 - The Demonskar Legacy #107 - Test of the Smoking Eye #109 - Secrets of the Soul Pillars #111 - Lords of Oblivion #113 - Foundation of Flame And the last ones are not...

    New Adventure Path

I noticed the implication of another adventure path as well, and I'm excited about it. I've run two groups through the Cauldron adventures, although the first group disbanded after completing Test of the Smoking Eye... everyone moved! I saw some good hints that Dungeon will take heed to the...

    Dungeon Magazine Forum?

I saw that announcement also. I hope it pans out. I find myself searching a couple of boards looking for good Dungeon Magazine-related threads. It seems that what ever Dungeon topic pops up doesn't stay active very long, and if I don't check the boards every day (and I don't), I have to go...

So tell me about the Book of Exalted Deeds in play

I introduced elements from the BoED when my players were just about to make 6th level (so they could take exalted feats at 6th level). They just made 12th level last weekend, and I don't think the rules have unbalanced the game at all. In some cases it has helped them (in certain specific...

    Handle Animal vs. Animal Companion

Oops! You're right about the training of the tricks. Only the bonus tricks are are automatic, like you showed in the SRD. It would have been more appropriate for me to say "almost as well trained," especially at higher levels for low HD animals (because they get more bonus tricks). Thanks...

    Handle Animal vs. Animal Companion

No, not too powerful. First of all, the Druid and the Ranger can use the Handle Animal skill just like anyone else. They can train animals to accompany them (in addition to their animal companion) just as you said for the fighter or the paladin or the barbarian. They are simply treated like...

So, how do people come up with character names, anyway?

Good question. Sometime's I come up with a name and then build a character around it. Most of the time I come up with a character then figure a name for him. Shirak the Shorn - A great name I came up with for a dwarf with no beard. I really liked the name, and I had to work on a character...

    Cauldroun/Shackled path Dungeon series?

Hey, no problem. I'm glad to see you have a paladin. My first group didn't have one, and in the second group, the paladin was a huge impact. Good luck on your game... let us know how it goes, and if you end up with any other suggestions for the rest of us. -------- I was thinking about Alek...
