    What makes the classes unique?

appreciate the replies... This does help alleviate concerns... I'm still interested in other input from other people here... Partially because I'm trying to think about what class I'll be interested in playing as a PC.. in my group (about 12 players who split tables on game day) we are planning...

    What makes the classes unique?

Hi All, I have been reading the boards daily, have pre-ordered my 4E books and I'm looking fwd to giving it a try. I'd like to get some help/input on one lingering fear that I can't shake... IT seems to me that, in the name of balance, each class will have basically the same features under...

    Death and -10 HP?

I thought I read some time back a long article describing 4th Edition's HP treatment of death an dying. The article said that the expectation was that PC's would not die at -10 HP, but be able to go to 1/2 their HP total before dying, and that they would make saves (stabilization roll?) to...

    tracking conditions - your approach?

Hi everyone, This should probably be a poll question (IMO)... It seems to me that just about everything on the battlefield is going to be making saves and trying to shed conditions at one time or another in a 4th edition battle... How will you keep track of the many conditions in 4th...

    Dying and Raise Dead...

I've seen some pretty good threads debating how often PC's will die and Jason Buhlmahn indicates in his writeup that he believes it will be rare... I'd be interested in two reactions from everyone.. 1. Do you think PC's will be at a lower risk of death, based on what you've seen? 2. What have...

What Core Class was actually fun to play

No offense, but what kind of a fighter are YOU playing? A fighter who isn't the center of his party's offensive power is either built REALLY poorly or in the middle of a party of fighters. Of course, I'm assuming by "fighter" you mean fighter-type, with maybe a level dip into barbarian. But...

Wall of Thorns - Overpowered? How to balance...

thanks for the links... look like no one ever really found any serious workarounds for monsters w/o appropriate 2 or 3 counterspells...

Wall of Thorns - Overpowered? How to balance...

Freedom of movement is great for PC's (They usually have one at this level), but I've only seen one NPC/monster ever have one.. As to rules section.. you are probably right. If a moderator wants to move this they can. Sorry if this is posted in the wrong area. pat

Wall of Thorns - Overpowered? How to balance...

Hello all, We have been playing a good bit of Greyhawk, and one of the PC's in our regular group reached a level that allows her to cast "wall of thorns". This has turned out to be a regularly devestating spell for most encounters for the following reasons: Any creature/NPC is usually...

D&D 4E 4E tidbits from WotC blogs (Updated:David Noonan on Social Interactions)

I agree with this... The best players I've seen have multiple tricks because they know there are many strengths and weaknesses in the monstrous world... Besides, this still sounds rather battle focused. Even though the battle is one of my favorite parts of DnD, the non-battle portions, using...

    Any New greyhawk news/confirmations?

Hi, I'm an LG player for the last 5 years... I saw in the thread on the seminar that ashockney (sp?) heard that LG will come to a glorious and triumphant end next year and then reset with new characters. This is supported by the video interview of Andy collins. In that interview he said there...

    Anyone using GhostOrb.com?

I was wondering if anyone here was using GhostOrb.com for game playing? I'm interested in playing but not sure it's worth it. I'm interested in some reviews of: - does the system work for d20 DnD? - Is it fun? - Is it worth the $$? - What does it cost? I heard it there is monthly and...

Please help me with Eberron Adventure plot

Wow, some great ideas. Thanks and I'd like to see more. I have WotVB and they will play it before beginning this, but it's more of a chase than a mystery/intrigue to me (I've only read through it one time). Thanks again, and if anyone else has any ideas, please chime in. Moticon..

Please help me with Eberron Adventure plot

HI everyone, I'm designing an adventure for the Eberron campaign setting that will loosely resemble the DaVinci Code/National Treasure. In other words, there is something (treasure, knowledge, artifact) which -- if found or exposed to the larger world -- would create havoc or give the holder...

    Combat in your game

I've always played with a grid and miniatures, even since the late '70's. We found it helped establish a clear visualization of what was happening and prevented alot of misunderstandings. Our games get pretty intense sometimes so that's very important! I still like to use my metal mini's over...

    Everyone have the new Dragon?

I was in the FLGS over the weekend and saw the new Dragon magazine.. It kind of bugged me because my sub hasn't arrived yet. When did yours arrive in the mail, and is there anyone else who hasn't received there's yet? Moticon

Railroading on the linear plot wagon

This is a great thread. I've enjoyed reading it because I've been doing a lot of thinking about this same problem lately. I think I'm a decent DM, I design adventures that have been enjoyed by all and the game sessions are fun and amicable, with lots of challenges. However, I have felt...
