    D&D 5E (2014) Greg Leeds talks about D&D

This could easily be the result of clever offshare taxation rules, especially with intellectual property.

I thought the golden stag was to represent the Emerald Enclave.

D&D 5E (2014) Any info on next release?

A monster menagerie would be a pretty cool thing to be locked away in a crashed space ship hidden deep in the mountains of the Forgreytten Realms.

    D&D 5E (2014) One-Stop Stat Blocks for D&D 5th Edition

If you have an encounter with 5 sharks, you won't use this. The MM is perfectly fine. If you have 5 Sharks and a fishman priest is when you can use this. I did something similar myself with index cards of the monster and their spell abilities where I just kept notes on the spellcasting...

Thank you. This is especially useful for things like the cult fanatic, druid, priest and mage.

AMA - Nijineko Prismaticpsion, world-builder for 30 years

    1. Are there a handful of books that are useful as a starting point for thinking about world-building? 2. Are there any books from fields that at first seem unrelated, but are actually helpful for thinking about world-building? For example, you mentioned the Japanese Inn book (I read that in...

D&D Obsessions or Minimizing Exposure and Pixel Bitching

I would like to call forth an analogy from J.R.R. Tolkien's the Hobbit and the episode with Smaug. For killing an Ancient Red Dragon, the lakeman Bard receives 14,450 XP. For sneaking into the dragon's treasure horde and stealing the gold while the dragon became someone else's problem, Bilbo...

How many people do you know who haven't switched to 5e, and why haven't they?

I know 2 people that just hate WoTC. These are two people that played an incredible amount of WoTC games in the past. Another 3 people I know just like the large amount of options in Pathfinder. Personally, I don't feel 5e does enough to make it worth playing more than previous editions (of...

Take A Look At The DUERGAR From SCAG

No. I thought the grimlock enslavement was from an older edition (1e or 2e). I read up and found out it was from the 3/3.5 era. Were the Giff ever a race enslaved by the mind flayers?

Take A Look At The DUERGAR From SCAG

and the githyanki/githzerai etc. The grimlocks were given an illithid slave race origin story in 3.5 ( I thought it was earlier): "According to Dragon #327, grimlocks were originally surface-dwelling barbarians with stonelike skin. After enduring their bloodthirsty raids for generations, other...

New SCAG Info: Someone Got The Book

I've always felt the large amount of gods/clerics and their cosmology were one of the main arguments against the "Tolkien inspired D&D argument".

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D-ish novels?

Nonfiction: Medieval Underworld by Andrew McCall Fiction: Arsène Lupin, Gentleman-Thief The most purely (1e) D&D story out there is probably Clark Ashton Smith's The Theft of the Thirty Nine Girdles. http://www.eldritchdark.com/writings/short-stories/215

D&D 5E (2014) 5e's new gender policy - is it attracting new players?

Thirty years ago, the player base at conventions was very diverse. The cons were large and general back then. I think the splitting off into smaller, more focused conventions makes it appear the groups are less diverse.

    Conspiracy advice

Do you mean you want the players to go to the library and check out a book and research what is written out there in the real world? For example, you want them to go and check out a book on the J. Kennedy assassination and then bring those topics up in game? They just show up the next session...
