Cities of Mystery and City System... what are they really?

If you can find a copy, 'Cities' by Midkemia Press is what you're looking for.

    Character Flaws

GURPS has some pretty good lists. Of course, most are Advatages or Disadvantages, so may be more than you're looking for. (But many come in 'levels', or can be downgraded as needed.)

    Slowing Down

Taalllkkk rreeeaaallll sssslllloooooowww. But, really, the advice from the above posters is the way to go.

    Players forgetting their PC's shtick.

I could be that cleric. I'm always forgetting the rules. Turn Undead, spells, you name it. And I've been playing for over a quarter of a century! But then, my memory has always been spotty. *Sigh* And I certainly wouldn't be insulted if someone handed me a cheat sheet. It would make things...

How Much Steel can a Longbow Pierce?

No. APCs/AFVs have armor that's too thick for a longbow to penetrate. Main battle tanks are right out.

    Bad DM stories

My worst GM (well, not the GM actually) was at a small town gaming con. The flyer for the adventure said this was a return to the Caves of Chaos (1e) as the "Official D&D Adventure". Ok, it specifically said our characters had been there before at low levels and now we were high-mid level. So we...

Have you become disillusioned with 3rd edition?

I voted for option 1 because that's all I'm playing at the moment. I've often played with a couple of different groups, using different systems. If I was now, I wouldn't have voted at all, as there's no option for such a situation.

DM's Delema: To kill or not to kill

Given what the PCs now know, they should be leaving messages everywhere to let everyone else know what's going on and where the secret complex is. As for them taking the moral high ground, they're in cahoots with the inquisition. (See sig.)

    Check out this custom fig.

    Nice. Very nice!

Play by post, questions, comments, concerns

Having a set time is good. Get players however you can! ;) Getting booted. Gotta be kinda careful about that. RL happens. Round by round combat is best. (So either post two or three times a week, or keep the combats short!) Yes. It helps to have a play area and an OOC (Out of Character)...

Do you give your players the exotic treasure or force them to make it?

? Nunchaku are simple, one handed grain flails. Been around for a long time. (Albeit the modern weapon is a bit different, with both ends being the same length.)

Need Planning Help for Town Adventure

There is a potential problem here. Even in midevil times the concept of Diplomatic Immunity existed. Thus even with incontrovertible proof (hard to get), chopping the ambassador may be all the excuse the other nation needs. Even for a 'just war'!

Some newbie DM combat and miniatures questions...

AoO. Your complaint about this really had me scratching my head. If a charcter has 3 or 4 attacks in a round, where does the extra for an AoO come from? Well, if the character is only 1st level he only gets one attack per round. So where do the others come from when he's higher level? The same...

    Is a Ninja/Barbarian possible?

    Sorry, I misunderstood. :heh:

    Is a Ninja/Barbarian possible?

Sigh. My knee jerk reaction to this was: ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! However, that was based on my understanding of real world ninja and barbarians. Simply as classes, and given the player's reason for doing so, I have to reverse that decision and agree completely with it. I would, however agree that ki...

Craziness in the real world - King Arthur the Vampire Slayer

    Readied Actions

As others have said, basically yes to most of these questions. Which are among the 1001 Reasons Why I Hate D&D Rules. That being said, however, even I agree that these bozo's are way out of line! (Hey, I grumble a lot, but I still play!)

Help me with a Magical WOMD

Quite a number of years ago I heard that some college guys (MIT?) did some figuring and came to the conclusion that if you could get a mage to enter a ball mirrored on the inside, close it up, and cast a decent level Lightning Bolt spell (hypnotized or whatever) it would cause a thermonuclear...

Which would be pretty useless against armor, I should think.

(Proper Poll) Rate T1-4: The Temple of Elemental Evil

Played in it back in the day, and running through the 3E conversion now. Great stuff! I gave it a nine.
