Concerning 3rd editions Wizard's being over powered.

Never really had the problem with Wizards. We quickly learned what spells were bad, and adjusted them or banned them outright Druids and clerics were just as bad, if not worse. Banned: Bite of X spells, Orb (except Acid), Gate, etc etc Frowned on: Glitterdust, Black Tentacles, etc Changed...

DDI and the future viability of Online D&D products

Someone mentioned XBox and Kinect support for remote gaming. This would be very interesting to me, way way more than a virtual tabletop. Support the voice/video chat via XBL and Kinect and I don't need a virtual tabletop.

I don't know if this is a thing...

    Vastly prefer the 3e version.

Why is the Vancian system still so popular?

Don't worry, I've been teaching the younger generations how to play 3.5 and the wonder and majesty of the Vancian system. :D

D&D 5E (2014) 5E Forgotten Realms: what will it look like?

Retcon the heck out of it. Remove, erase and mind wipe all spell plague, "elves are really eladrin" and dragonborn related events from FR. Offer to buy back all novels from that time, and have them burned. Then go back to the 3rd edition version and continue on like it never happened. :D

Why is the Vancian system still so popular?

Snipped to the points I am responding to. Incorrect about the rest. Clerics are not required to rest to regain spells. They get them back at whatever time they pray each day, regardless of rest. So they really do mean X times per day. Same with Turn/Rebuke undead. Same with many items...

Why is the Vancian system still so popular?

I prefer Vancian casting, because when I think D&D, that is what I think of. It feels like D&D.

    D&D 5E (2014) Healing Prayers for 5th Edition

Clerics should use Vancian spells next edition.

    D&D 5E (2014) A Thought about 5e Multi-classing...

I would prefer 3e's system, with less front loaded-ness, or you have to take so many levels when you choose to add a new class (5?) With prestige type classes, I would have preferred you have to finish it out before choosing another. Basically, I liked the 3e system, but it had some flaws with...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D 5E and Spell Schools

Voted for, and think that all arcane spells should have a school. Clerical spells come from a deity, so unless they plan to restrict certain schools from certain religions, there's no need (imo) to separate those.

    New Staff Blog: Run Away!

I know a lot of the PF modules/APs have morale for creatures built into the encounters. Morale: The chuuls fight to the death to defend their home. I would be happy with guidelines in the new Monster Manual, per creature, as opposed to rolls that can dramatically sway an encounter.

    Suggestions for modules

Vancian Magic will be core, not a module, as will feats (as I understand the background/themes)

    Get Rid of Splatbooks Altogether

1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18. Those are the levels I get feats, so it is one of those. I shouldn't have either of those items (con goes in an amulet usually, for a belt it's pretty expensive) before level 3, so sometime between 4 and 18. However, I actually do create my character and use the...

    Get Rid of Splatbooks Altogether

Personally, I jot down on the character sheet. For example, my level 9 Rogue/Fighter 1) Rogue 52 2) Fighter 7 3) Rogue 13 4) Fighter 7 5) Rogue 13 etc etc If my int goes up, I'll note Rogue 14 or Fighter 8 from the point on.

What happens every 2 months of real time (a single stat bump that may or may not affect the character sheet) is pretty minor.

    D&D 4E Combining Vancian and Will/Daily from 4E

I work on the IT side for a printing company (lots of technical manuals, some text books, etc). Depending on the type of printer used, it can go from 20 cents (digital color) a page to as low as less than a penny a page (black and white). Due to the costs being all over the place, it's hard to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Ideal DNDNext Digital Support

The best Digital initiative for me would be one that is non-intrusive to the pen and paper game, meaning completely optional. If I purchase a book, any errata on it should be readily available. A searchable PDF (even for a nominal fee) with the purchase of a book would be high high up on my...

    Get Rid of Splatbooks Altogether

By the same token, not EVERY DM is going like the theme of a book either. What this tells me is if you have 5 players and 40% like the book, or 1 DM and he has a 40% chance of liking the book, the players will still buy more than DMs. Adventures (good ones) probably do ok. The problem is...

Realism vs. Believability and the Design of HPs, Powers and Other Things

I stand corrected, there were only core in 1e. They were an add-on in Basic/OD&D, 2, 3 and 3.5 and 4 HOWEVER, they were not a class in 1e, simply an (optional) chance that someone could develop the wild talents.

Realism vs. Believability and the Design of HPs, Powers and Other Things

Psionics aren't core in 1st, 2nd or 3rd edition. They were add-ons. I have no issues with non-magical healers being add-ons, I don't care for them in the core game.
