Thanks, all. There are a number of things in here that got me thinking again. Just what I needed.

Put a very important (and possibly deadly) encounter in a very small space. You really shouldn't try becoming something more than Large in a 10' tunnel.

Anybody have advice on building non-combat wilderness encounters? It feels like all the game is becoming for my group is walking from one fight to the next. Don't worry about terrain or setting, I can use any help you'll lend.

Never leave home without pitons. Climbing. Hold doors open. Hold doors closed. Poor improvised weapon. Improvised chisel. Also good for casting spell effects centered on an item that you really don't want to be moved easily.
