    D&D 5E (2014) MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

On a Mac, but deleting the application and downloading straight from Adobe's site cured the problem. Thanks for the help!

    D&D 5E (2014) MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

Thanks, apparently that was the problem. I don't know why the Adobe site told me that I had the most recent version, but I deleted the application and went to the Adobe site and my old version was indeed old. It only came up with this sheet, but to be honest I have been using another PDF...

    D&D 5E (2014) MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

Ah, there's the rub. When I click on the field, colors change, but no window opens. I am using the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader, though I get a dialog whenever I load the pdf that I should upgrade to the latest version. I did re-download the latest version, but still get the dialog.

    D&D 5E (2014) MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

Holy cow, I am thick - I "printed" a Zhentarim jpg to pdf and saved it to my desktop, then tried to copy/paste into the Organization box and tried dragging and dropping, both to no effect. I see an import tool, but it is talking about formats I have no clue about. I really tried - I searched...

Thanks for the illumination about Greatsword +2, worked perfectly!

    D&D 5E (2014) MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

Feeling a bit sheepish. I tried many ways to make the welcome message go away, but did not press enter. That did, indeed, cure the problem. Something else cropped up whilst entering data. My character has a +2 Greatsword, but I could not find a way to upgrade my "to hit" and "damage"...

    D&D 5E (2014) MPMB's D&D 5e Character Tools

A friend suggested his sheet, but when I try and load it on my Mac I get a non-removable java script introductory file that doesn't allow me to access the sheet. I tried moving this to the side but get that damn "boink" sound when I try and use it. Any suggestions?

    D&D 5E (2014) Are Rogues mostly archers?

Well, unless you get attacked twice or more in the same round, then not so much, as the first strike uses your reaction. I've had the first strike cause minimal damage that used my reaction and then got hit again with a crit.

    D&D 5E (2014) Are Rogues mostly archers?

Nobody has mentioned the SCAG Swashbuckler: I have been having fun with my Swashbuckler who is more of a melee character than any of my previous Rouge characters. He is level 5 now, and having gained 5th level he has become more interesting than my past RCs. I took DWF at 4th level, so he can...

    D&D 5E (2014) Killing a Teammate

One possible uptick is for the party to *not* attack every being they come across. Roleplaying diplomacy in order to get help for your comrade could be a nice changeup in groups that don't normally try that tactic. Offering up a magic item from the debilitated PC would be a really good way to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Feats and Weapons

I've been playing 5e twice a week for just over a year (went for a couple of decades without playing, so 2nd ED>5e). I know I should try other classes to perk things up, but I find myself sticking to Fighter/Rogue/Barbarian/Ranger classes, and things are starting to look a little rote. I find...

    Green-Flame Blade = magic weapon?

Thanks for that - not versed in twitter, so I count on the kindness of strangers for this! ;)

    Green-Flame Blade = magic weapon?

Thanks all for your kind attention. I think what it boils down to me, from the many points being made, is that the weapon is included as the Material component of the spell, therefore making it a magic attack. Given that to be the case, I guess the question becomes: does the attack use your...

    Green-Flame Blade = magic weapon?

Building a High Elf Fighter and looking at the new Green-Flame Blade cantrip in the SCAG. The way I read it is that at this level it does no extra damage to the primary target, just the secondary. Does this count as a magic weapon for the Primary target for hitting targets immune to normal...

    D&D 5E (2014) Arcane Trickster/Eldritch Knight Spells

In the initial spells for both classes, the instructions state that two of those spells must come from enchantment and illusion schools (AT) or abjuration and evocation (EK). Does this mean the third spell can come from any Wizard spell of any school?

D&D 5E (2014) Is it worth taking damage in order to do your stuff?

Regarding the OP: A Rogue is usually a support character in my view. At least until my newest which is a SCAG Swashbuckler. Assassins Thieves and Arcane Tricksters usually have the criminal background, so they would not have risked the damage unless there was a really compelling reason to do so...

D&D 5E (2014) Anybody know of a site where I can download free pawns?

Oh, I remember those tiny army men from my days as a young lad in England. Those came in packs of different countries' soldiers, right? About HO scale? We don't have those in the States that I've ever seen. Don't really know what happened to all of mine - I had many of them. Here we mostly had...

D&D 5E (2014) Skill from race and background: double Prof?

I'm building an Elf Swashbuckler (from SCAG) and want a background that also includes the Perception skill. Would they stack, giving me what is basically a 3rd Expertise choice at 1st Level, or if I want that background do I just lose a skill spot?

    D&D 5E (2014) I don't want to homebrew anymore...

Back when I used to DM (in the 80's) I cribbed ideas from fantasy books I was very familiar with. I used PJ Farmer's World Of Tiers series and Zelazny's Amber books as source material. Having read those series so many times, it was easy to fill in around their background. Maybe if you tried...

D&D 5E (2014) Is Find Familiar essentially "gain Advantage on all skill checks and attacks"?

You're right. I did not read the spell description well enough. I caught the flaw and did not use the tactic. Badgering a DM is never a good idea, as it usually makes him more creative in his disagreement with you (if he's a good dm) or wastes precious game time to resolve if he argues with you...
