D&D 4E The Soonest You Would Purchase 4e

Late next year is the earliest I'd feel comfortable buying it. It really depends on how it looks, though. Once it's underway, I'll be keeping an eye out on all the news released. Chances are, I'll be the first in my group to buy it, and I'll have to sell them on it.

Cost of a Magical Mithril Shirt

Mithral (and most special materials) include masterwork in their price. So 1100 gets you a Mithral Chain Shirt that is masterwork.

    Was I unfair?

At third level, only the cleric could have had 2nd level spells at all. I also wouldn't say the classes don't compliment each other. A barbarian/cleric can do some nice things with buffs (Divine Favor and Rage sound like a nice combo). A fighter/sorcerer could do likewise, Enlarging himself...

    Complete Champion, and Dungeonscape

If the insides are half as good as the cover, you've got two sales from a me and a friend. The Wizards site info makes it sound pretty appealing.

    Swordsage and skill points

It should be X4, like all other classes.

    Warmage - how balanced?

Bingo. I've played in a game where our only arcane caster is a Warmage. He can put out the damage, but honestly, my Bone Knight w/ Fighter cohort and the Valenar Elf mounter warrior crazie aren't slouches in that department. What we do have problems with are dispelling magic, or turning...

    Complete Champion, and Dungeonscape

Looks like Jason Buhlman (sp? Dragon Editor) as the first name on Dungeonscape. James Jacobs would be more appropriate, but what the hey.

    From obscurity to major players

I could be remember something wrong. Now that I think about it, the ads I saw featured a cleric; she was quite helpful when the party ran into some green slime. I'd also assumed that Khellek=Kelek, until I saw the ad reference. Which might be wrong. Ugh. I think I need to make a trip to my...

    D&D 4E Mythusmage's D&D 4e Thoughts

Hrm. In general, I think I could get behind eyebeams' idea. D&D and AD&D had better come out very close to each other, though. While D&D sounds great for bringing in new players, I know my group is going to want the greater number of options in AD&D from the start.

    From obscurity to major players

For a time, my Iron Heroes game centered around the defense of an inn called The Barrelhouse. I recall reading somewhere that the three rival adventurers in Age of Worms are based on characters that showed up in D&D comic/ads that showed up in comic books way back when (I've been meaning to...

    Bloodwar Mini Gallery

Nifty. Should have a case arriving soon, so I'll see what I get. Looking back through some of the other galleries, I realized I missed a bunch of stuff. I think I need to hunt down some Archfiends, and maybe a couple of packs of Aberations.

    Gestalt Mulitclassing?

Or maybe I was overcomplicating things... I don't remember how I was doing it, but it didn't look as clean as that.

    Gestalt Mulitclassing?

I was working out a fractional progression, but realized my either my players' heads would explode, or they'd kill me. How I do it now, I just have them count up the number of levels they have a good saves and how many levels they have of bad saves, and look at the appropriate numbers. So, a...

Iconic Monster Use - The Displacer Beast

I voted 3-4, but I guess it's more if you include fighting them in the Gold Box games. They'll probably see a bit more use in my games, as I need to justify the FOUR displacer pack lords I've picked up (and not a single huge fire elemental or purple worm for my troubles. sigh)

    Dave "Wormy" Trampier Interviewed . . .

I was hoping that maybe I'd missed an issue or forty and I'd find a proper ending on the Archive :o Ah, well, I did get to see the whole thing right from the start (I think my first use of the Archive was to read all the Wormys and all the What's New?s. At some point, I'll have to pop them...

How often have you used Beholders?

I voted once or twice, but that might be high. I know I've used a increased gauth, but I can't recall seeing a real beholder, on either side of the screen. I know I've always been uncomfortable sending one against players, with its abilities seeming too weak (Inflict Moderate Wounds) or too...

    Questions about/Problems with PHB II

I've used it for NPCs, not sure I've seen it on a player. It pretty much demands a single class barbarian. I think its usefulness depends on the type of game. If you're doing only one or two fights a day, against high damage foes, regular rage is much better. If you have many encounters...

    Invisibility and Flanking

Thanks, I thought I remembered reading something like this, but couldn't find it in the 3.5 FAQ. Beyond that, as I thought, the RAW are against me, but I'm not quite willing to concede the common sense point. Maybe I'll just ban Invisibility, or give all monsters Improved Uncanny Dodge...

    Invisibility and Flanking

Some questions about Invisibility and how it works with flanking came up in my game last night. The rogue had a Greater Invisibility cast on her, then moved around behind a monster. One of the fighters then moved up on the monster, placing him opposite of the rogue. I ruled the fighter did...

    Dungeon #141

My main interest is in the Savage Tide adventure, which sounds pretty neat (hermit crab using ships as shells? Probably time to read up on grapple rules). It's going to be tough not running it right away (I'm trying to delay my ST game a little, both so I can make use of the related info from...
