I know that Mike Mearls is a fan-favorite RPG designer right now (and rightly so!). If you enjoy his work, several of the Legends & Lairs books were written by him. They are all excellent. My personal favorites of the line were: Wildscape, Monster Handbook, and Darkness & Dread.

This kind of baffles me: why the heck would your character favor enemies that he never encountered in the campaign world?? I could understand this happening for the first favored enemy, of course, but presumably he would have then had some sense of who he was fighting regularly... :confused:

Truthfully, while Mettle *sounds* very cool, it is essentially useless- or at least, comes into play exceptionally rarely. I have played through three levels with a Pious Templar/Hammer of Moradin and Mettle has not come into play *even once*. I sure have failed a lot of Reflex saves...
