Level Up (A5E) A dismal deficiency of druids and a sorry scarcity of sorcerers

The Sporekeeper in MoAR Wilderness leans harder into mushrooms and fungus as the versatile and varied things they are. That archetype has no necromantic component, but it can cast hallucinogenic illusion spells, nourish their teammates with edible fungus and even grow protective layers of...

Level Up (A5E) A dismal deficiency of druids and a sorry scarcity of sorcerers

So my collaborator has already weighed in (thanks Josh!) but we've got archetypes in the MoAR series that scratch some of your itches and I have one or two in my Thematic Toolkit line, too. MoAR Wilderness has the Sporekeeper and Stormcaller druids. Thematic Toolkit: Arcane Avenger has the...

Level Up (A5E) Herald's who don't keep their oaths

Clerics and paladins losing their powers isn't a standard part of the O5E rules either. I think if it comes up in an egregious fashion in play, it's time for an adult conversation with the player about what kind of implications their actions will have. If you're planning to "gotcha" the player...

Level Up (A5E) Optimised A5e rogue (and other) builds

When do you start? I ask because nest month's MoAR release has a rogue archetype called the Sacred Agent that has the ability to convert their sneak attack damage to radiant, and radiant damage tends to be fairly nasty to gothic horror monsters, especially undead. ;)

3PP Release New 3PP Release: MoAR Intrigue!

The second installment of the Manual of Adventurous Resources series is out. Last time we had stuff for the Wilderness, this time the theme is Intrigue! This one is packed with cool new stuff! Origins: Heritage: Tabaxi Cultures: Desert Hierarch and Hoplite Legionnaire Backgrounds...

Blog (A5E) Level Up: Now on FOUNDRY VTT!

It should also be noted that those of us making 3PP content are very much on board with this plan. ;) I've been getting the text of my products to Phil and his team at the same time they go into layout. Took a while to get everything lined up so that happens, but it's ticking along smoothly now.

Blog (A5E) Level Up’s Third Party Publishers Speak Up!

Yes, do that! The more robust the 3PP ecosystem, the more people will see how well Level Up is supported, and the more people will be willing to give it a shot. A rising tide lifts all boats, so let's raise the tide!

Blog (A5E) Level Up: Now on FOUNDRY VTT!

EDIT: Misread what was being said. Nothing to see here, carry on.

Level Up (A5E) Plugging O5e subclasses into A5e classes.

Yeah, everybody basically had to. I'm curious, did you use WotC subclasses or 3PP ones? I stuck to third-party.

Level Up (A5E) Plugging O5e subclasses into A5e classes.

We used O5E subclasses for the internal playtesting during development because the A5E subclasses got written fairly late in the process. They worked just fine.

Level Up (A5E) Which classes need 1/3 Casters, and how should they work?

Sorry for the short replies - busy morning. A bit more detail on the last couple of posts now that I have some breathing room. The tentative plan for MoAR is to eventually do a compiled volume with a physical version of some kind, but that's not likely to even be started on until sometime in...

Level Up (A5E) Which classes need 1/3 Casters, and how should they work?

You are correct. It is indeed a 1/3rd divine caster.

Level Up (A5E) Which classes need 1/3 Casters, and how should they work?

Yes. The plan is to eventually do some sort of compilation. But for now we're focused on getting the parts out.

Level Up (A5E) Which classes need 1/3 Casters, and how should they work?

In fact, I'll give you a teaser of the names, even. ;) Adept: Forbidden Fist Berserker: Wrathburner Fighter: Arcane Showoff Marshal: Ecclesiarch Rogue: Dark Eye -and- Sacred Agent None of these will be in MoAR Volume 2: Intrigue, but you might see a couple as early as volume 3. (We currently...

Level Up (A5E) Which classes need 1/3 Casters, and how should they work?

We have 1/3rd casters for all of the non-caster classes (except the ranger, which already has one) written up and coming in future volumes of the Manual of Adventurous Resources series. ;)

Level Up (A5E) What strongholds and followers are missing? (Also: rules for mobile strongholds)

These are all good. Interesting that we've got two new stronghold types and 5 new follower types in various MoAR volumes and none of them are on this list. ;) MoAR Intrigue has one of the new stronghold types and 4 of the new followers. It'll be out in early July if all goes to plan.

    D&D 5E (2014) EN5ider #460 - Intriguing Organizations: Unpinned Scales

One final post just to make things extra-clear: take the name of your least-favorite wannabe or actual authoritarian head of state. Swap their name in for the name of founding devil and reread the article that way. Because that's LITERALLY what I was thinking of when I wrote the piece.

    D&D 5E (2014) EN5ider #460 - Intriguing Organizations: Unpinned Scales

A bit more context: populist agitators usually set themselves up as outsiders fighting against the system or elites. So in the case of the unpinned scales, the rare decent "elite" (genuinely good clergyperson or philanthropist) is painted with the brush of corruption by those seeking to...

    D&D 5E (2014) EN5ider #460 - Intriguing Organizations: Unpinned Scales

Hi there. I am the author of the article. The Unpinned Scales are basically intended as a metaphor for how populism takes abhorrent beliefs, wraps them in false virtue to deceive the desperate, and makes people who want to be good do bad things by lying to them. "If they can make you believe...
