Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Absolutely! Sometimes you just have to dive right in and enjoy the terrible thing for the terribleness. If instead of terribleness we call it kitsch we can claim a certain amount knowing irony.

That you are a ray of sunshine, and all about seems dark by comparison.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I watched both back in the day. I remember liking Logan's Run, but even 10 year old me couldn't stand BSG 1980. And I had low standards back then. Probably fair to say I still have low standards as I shall be watching season 5 of Wynonna Earp when it becomes available.

What is Your Current Campaign's "Appendix N"?

Spells: do you prefer Rotes or Dynamic?

Mind Control and super strength can solve most issues. If you can't beat it to death, you can try to mind control it. And vice versa.

What is your favorite spell for Urban magic?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that all anime inspired characters should have powers that come with a linked aid to PRES. Especially transformation sequences.

What is your favorite spell for Urban magic?

Long time since I read Neverwhere. I vaguely recall that Door opens doors. i.e. teleport gates. My memories of The Librarians are even more vague (although I watched that much more recently.) And I do not know the others. And only just now realised you weren't talking to me specifically...

What is your favorite spell for Urban magic?

I'd call that one: Continuous EB or RKA. Gestures (maybe?) Incantations as you make the "pew pew" noise. Linked to an Aid to PRES. Because aint noting cooler than finger guns.

Spells: do you prefer Rotes or Dynamic?

I think this would become a kind of corporate espionage game. Where wizards are constantly trying to steal one another's secrets. Which is, of course, a trope of fantasy fiction. Like any trope, used occasionally it can be fun. I wouldn't want to play a campaign that was nothing but this...

    Worlds of Design: Colonies

Alas, this is not the case. Oh, there's plenty of people who, if asked, would say "colonialism bad." But there's also plenty who wouldn't. Or who would say "that happened hundreds of years ago, it's not relevant now." Also, there's no doubt that there are those lack the critical reading...

D&D General Huge Equipment Lists: Good, Bad, or Ugly?

I'm in the "depends on the style of the game" group. Genre has a lot to do with it. But it's not the only consideration. Sometimes you want the gear porn. Other times, simple is best. e.g.: players in my current star wars game spend a lot of time going through gear lists, making checks to...

    Worlds of Design: Colonies

@aramis erak Yeah the Star Wars universe is an effed up place. I happen to playing in a very high level game of it at the moment. It's set about -15BBY. My character is a docbot who was freed (by the other PCS) from slavery to some Hutt overlord. The rest of the group are mercs who started...

    Worlds of Design: Colonies

What? Are you saying that, when 2 disparate groups meet, in what can only be described as complex situations, that only 1 of those groups has a story to tell? Coz that's the only inference I can draw from this. Well, that or you're making a personal attack.

What is your favorite spell for Urban magic?

My current campaign is a modern(ish) urban fantasy. London, 1986. We have a wizard. She has a few favourite spells. Her favourite is Death Touch, or as we're calling it Bad Touch. The spells they actually use the most are stealth spells. We're using the "secret magic world" trope so avoiding...

    Conveying Setting Information

I don't think this is a bad way to do it. It's more interactive. More interaction, I think, will get the players paying more attention to the world building. This is how my group did our latest campaign. It's working great. It's how I'll do all them in the future.

    Worlds of Design: Colonies

@Reynard, as for your example of good colonisation... Dude, there is so much to unpack there. I couldn't even begin without breaching forum rules on politics. I'm not having a shot at you. I know you're just trying to show how fantasy stories can explore other possibilities. But @Tonguez...

    Worlds of Design: Colonies

Calling the voicing of concerns a "purity test" is pretty insulting, please don't. No-one is testing anyone. A few people are saying that the original article is bad. I am one of them. One person recommended adding to the original article. Note I said adding, not removing anything from it...

    Worlds of Design: Colonies

Yep. Colonialism is going to pop up in a lot of games. When it does maybe try to be a bit more aware of the issues being played with than simply framing the colonisers as good guys. Or even as morally neutral. Colonising (other than a dead world) is inherently an exercise in which a more...
