    Considerations when Designing a Warlord.

Unless it is like the Beastmaster and brings its own lackey. I had a rough write up of a MasterBlaster (Mad Max) or Jasmine and Rajah class that had two units but divides the activities between one regular Action (2 moves, 2 potential Reactions, 2 potential Bonus actions).

Water, water everywhere, Nor any drop to drink

My solution for "whack-a-mole" is Lingering Wounds (DMG) and those optional rules also help resolve the "nothing ever wounds" aspect of "HP as Mojo". So you can get hurt badly but it isn't happening all the time in even the most trivial combats.

In need of Mount homebrews tips

    1. If your want the mounts used by characters to be important they should probably keep up with character Hit Points (usually by having them get free HD as the characters level - equal or slightly less). The alternative is having them level which probably should increase more than just their...

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlord - Is 5E SRD/DMsGuild a Solution? Is AL a Problem?

Warlord sidebar: Through your latent and subtle psionic powers you are able to have wondrous effects through your intellect, wisdom and charisma. While these abilities may look like inspiration, leadership, or general encouragement they are in fact magical despite your ignorance or insistence...

Water, water everywhere, Nor any drop to drink

If think the consensus was that "HP as Meat" refers to understanding that when you lose Hit Points it always causes some sort of injury that must heal even if the majority is non-physical (luck, stamina, mojo). There aren't times when you take "Damage" from a "Hit" that was actually not an...

My apologies, I reversed who was the bear and who had the stick.

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlord - Is 5E SRD/DMsGuild a Solution? Is AL a Problem?

I agree that this is at root a classic Hit Point/Healing debate. Which really isn't a debate at all but a matter of preference (taste or gaming style).

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlord - Is 5E SRD/DMsGuild a Solution? Is AL a Problem?

It might help if you weren't reframing want or would like to need. And literally treating the game condition of "unconscious" as beaten to the point of "actively dying" while the actual effect in play is sometimes so brief that the character doesn't even miss a turn (drop, Rogue with Healer...

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlord - Is 5E SRD/DMsGuild a Solution? Is AL a Problem?

I know these's like 21 Warlord builds here but who is advocating At-Will attack granting? Besides the WotC official "Beast Master". I'm glad you've reconsidered your position - because you wrote one of the builds I'm analysing now. I agree that Meaty HP and Inspirational Healing don't mix...

    Considerations when Designing a Warlord.

We already have the "Primary melee combatant with support abilities": that's the main point ChrisCarlson, Hussar, and others are making. Battle Master, PDK, Mastermind, and the Healer and Inspiring Leader feats. And the 2 Warlords on DMsG are both more of the same. Some Warlord builds might...

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlord - Is 5E SRD/DMsGuild a Solution? Is AL a Problem?

So the folks not wanting a Warlord are just waiting to be swayed by the right argument? Maybe some, but I expect the compromise would need to be "Martial" is magic whether called Ki or latent Psionic power or "The Force" of Personality. Super Sneak Strike = Ki, Action Surge = The Force, Second...

    Considerations when Designing a Warlord.

Being heavily involved in Beastmaster discussions, it seems to me you just described the slightly underpowered Ranger subclass. Trading Action to Companion - "Attack granting is very difficult to balance." At 7th Companion can Help using Bonus action or alternately Knockdown/Trip - "Advantage...

    Considerations when Designing a Warlord.

I would normally categorize these as action granting (little 'a'). Are there any current Warlord builds on the forum advocating full 'Action' granting? Action Surge (Fighter 2), Thief's Reflexes (Thief 17), and the playtest Ambuscade Ranger feature are the main ones I recall. The standard...

    D&D 5E (2014) Find Steed Celestial/Fiend/Fey question

There are a number of wards that target fiends specifically. In my game they'd be evil by nature. But just being 'fiend' subjects them to things that damage fiends so the alignment is mostly irrelevant (Detect Evil, Circle of Protection, Divine Smite, etc).

    D&D 5E (2014) Find Steed Celestial/Fiend/Fey question

No special benefits other than no longer being a beast. There are a few effects that target only beasts. And a few spells that target fey, celestials, and fiends. The rest is flavor.

    D&D 5E (2014) Warlord - Is 5E SRD/DMsGuild a Solution? Is AL a Problem?

I see it as a political process with one side with competing rivals which may ultimately circle the wagons around a single candidate, and an opposition side that's going to oppose everything by definition. Pretty much on idealogical grounds. Until 4 weeks ago the target audience for builds...

Water, water everywhere, Nor any drop to drink

The Warlord, Warlock, Paladin, Monk, etc. (Religious Cleric, 1e Barbarian) all run into some preference issues. Bottom line issues regarding what HP and healing represent, whether the game should simulate a world or emulate a genre, and attitudes toward the metagame all have a strong bearing...
