Paladins; Will they finally get to shine in this edition?

*shrugs* I liked them, but if they are as desemphatised, it's ok..

Paladins; Will they finally get to shine in this edition?

Granted, not much, may change, may be only for existing settings or not PoL, etc... there was a cryptic line or two in W&M if i remember well, bringing Lawfull and Chaotic around, the designer dude at FR brought that 'Good and Lawfull paladins are more commons than Evil or Chaotic ones' and one...

Paladins; Will they finally get to shine in this edition?

There was a quote that Order is more common than Chaos for Paladins, so....

D&D 4E Why I like the 4ed Forgotten Realms (and 4ed in general, for that matter)

Sometimes, a monster is just a monster, to quote... freud?

Grotesque and ugly is the point. ;)

D&D 4E Why I like the 4ed Forgotten Realms (and 4ed in general, for that matter)

American (and other arborigen groups, to a lesser degree) natives, amerindians, etc... The populations numbers are weirdly high, irrealist it is argued - especially with the things that happened in the real story and the added bits. All linked to the 'power returning to oppressed groups' theme...

D&D 4E Why I like the 4ed Forgotten Realms (and 4ed in general, for that matter)

Because there IS problems that could be worked on, solved? I means, I liked by example the world of Shadowrun, but you can be a fan and points still some problems - like the question of the anormaly high number of natives.

D&D Designers answer Slashdot crowds questions

As in videogame, most peoples actually prefer new stuff than backward compactibility (arguably at the stake of power, in videogames's case). New editions..... more of the old or new stuff?

D&D Designers answer Slashdot crowds questions

I think that you read too much there... They want to allow more easily online rping as the real world make things often really hard to make a group. But this is and will remains a tabletop rpg. It's strawman to say otherwise, really - lot of luddism around the web.

    D&D 4E 4e Magic system, speculations?

The classes removed are not archetypal, really. At the base, a barbarian is a berzerk fighter. At the base, a druid is a shamanistic cleric of nature. At the base, a monk is a mostly unarmed fighter with mystical powers. And so on. If what WOTC said is realised, really, a dm should be able...

New Dungeoncraft: The Dungeons of Greenbrier Chasm

More like byzantine debates on pedantic points.

    D&D 4E 4e Magic system, speculations?

It's sad because such things always end up getting quickly kind of obsessive and leaning over byzantine debates full of bitter debates, nitpickings and excomunication. Badwrongness.

primal, I think that you nitpick details and cut hairs in halves.

    D&D 4E 4e Magic system, speculations?

And so, perhaps it's time to think what could be reworked, improved, bettered in the system... So D&D would have an edge in gamist fun. As much as the fluff also, and all that. To go beyond legacy, the % of shares, etc... as an attractive reason to play D&D for itself.

    D&D 4E 4e Magic system, speculations?

I find it sad, this obsession with the 'it is/it is not D&D' debate. If it would/is better, funner, etc to you and yet not D&D.... maybe that say something, no?

D&D 4E Why I like the 4ed Forgotten Realms (and 4ed in general, for that matter)

On the serious troubles in Thay, the first part... Really, Thay was anyway condemned to troubles had ANY changes to magic would have happened. Any. The whole country is a magocracy, remember - change a bit how arcane magic, and the whole edifice may shake. And note, the whole country is...

    D&D 4E 4e Magic system, speculations?

Amusingly, there was a poster here I think that argued the new system will be actually CLOSER to the magic system Vance used in those books... :D

    Turn Undead should be removed!

I'd like that - relievant to my interests, as I will play a common cleric boy first. :) maybe there will be channeling of basic forces.. elements for clerics of elemental gods, necrotic for dark ones, and so on...
