    He sundered my familiar!

Skip mentioned the possibiligy of using a Ride check to get cover from his master, but he neglected to mention the usual -5 penalty for riding bareback or the -5 from an unsuitable mount. He (by proxy) asked for input on what questions he should cover, then he (mostly) ignored the advice...

    Rideby Mount and Rider

Have you read the FAQ entry on this very topic?

Am I adding this up correctly?

You only need to Spot someone if he's Hiding. If he's not hiding, you can see your target at the normal encounter distance (see the DMG rules for encounter distance for different terrains).

    the Defending property

Exactly. Take a +5 defending longsword. Its +5 magical enhancement bonus overlaps with its +1 enhancement bonus on attack rolls from it being masterwork, so it has just a +5 enhancement bonus. Presumably, you can allocate none of its enhancement bonus to AC, when you choose not to use the...

    the Defending property

Nope. You're misinterpreting the rule. All means all.

    the Defending property

You can't do that because the +5 magical enhancement bonus overlaps with the +1 non-magical enhancement bonus from being masterwork. If you transfer +4 of your +5, that's "some." If you transfer +5 of your +5, that's "all." This doesn't make much of a difference. It's only +1, after all.

    the Defending property

Not quite, Krafen. If you transfer all of the enhancement bonus to AC, that would include the +1 enhancement bonus from masterwork. You have to read the Defending ability description very carefully to notice that you can transfer "all" or "some" of the enhancement bonus to AC. If you transfter 4...

Double Rage; Triple Rage by now

While we're on the subject, what if someone casts the Rage spell on someone with the Reckless Rage feat (Races of Stone)? http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ex/20040807a&page=5 How would this interact with the Rage spell (quoted above)? It appears at first that they wouldn't interact...

Double Rage; Triple Rage by now

I agree that you can't stack uses of the rage ability, even if you get them from different sources. But the Rage spell is a little different. SRD === Rage Enchantment (Compulsion) [Mind-Affecting] Level: Brd 2, Sor/Wiz 3 Components: V, S Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: Medium (100 ft. +...

Double Rage; Triple Rage by now

The Rage spell grants morale bonuses, which stack with the unnamed bonuses from the rage ability.

    Silly Rage Bonus Question

And the Rage spell grants a morale bonus to Str and Con, so it stacks nicely, too.

    Mount Ride Checks

Thanee has it right, but there's no rule about what action is required to "get back in the saddle." I think that no action is required; this is just part of mounted combat.

    Make My Character!

From that party mix, you clearly need an arcane caster. A bard might do, but a wizard or sorcerer would be better in terms of balancing the party. What level do you start at? If you start off at level 1 and you must claw your way up, you might find a different solution. If you start off at...

How many soldiers should protect a capital city?

Just one. And you don't have to pay him. He just shows up. Nobody has attacked the capital city in over a hundred years. Not since the Night of Ten Thousand Orcs. Oh, some say they got scared and ran away, and some say they got all orc-y and fought each other, but everyone knows that there are...

My 11th sorceress has taken to casting a Greater Invisibility spell long before combat, designating her raven familiar as the toucher. Living Greyhawk Monk, 1st Draft

You're a grappler with BAB +0 and a mediocre strength? Well, good luck on THAT. A standard elf wizard (grapple -1) will kick your butt 22.75% of the time. No clubs? They make dandy missile weapons and they're free. You didn't buy any shuriken? Don't forget that you'll likely need 12 gp to...

    Armor Spikes

The Main 3.5e FAQ has some words on the matter. Sadly, the words are a bit ambiguous. Now that you've read the PH rules, read the FAQ, and talk with your DM to decide if (a) armor spikes ALWAYS inflict extra damage after a successful grapple check (which is what the PH says), (b) wearing...

There's no way to answer your question well since there are endless tactical situations that you can find yourself in and endless combinations of party capabilities and strengths. And there's the wide-open variable of Initiative order; who goes first and how far away our party is from the enemy...
