Im getting OD&D on friday..What can I expect?

I am tickled that you posted in my thread. (I was hoping you would) care to fill me in on why I hit D&D jackpot? I really though AD&D was the D&D jackpot when I was playing that, and despite the fact that every keeps telling me it was crap, I really enjoyed everything about the system. I had a...

Callled Shot rules in 'Core' D&D?

This is my rule, minus the -4 to hit. i think its called 'Describing/Role Playing a battle.' Or something crazy and asinine like that. ---Rusty

Im getting OD&D on friday..What can I expect?

While around the gaming table yesterday the one female dice roller mentioned that she had a extra copy of OD&D which she would be willing to hand it over. I haven't played AD&D in 6 years (AD&D is similar in some ways to OD&D in some ways) So I was hoping some OD&Ders could give me a crash...

    Lets talk Massive Damage

I use Half the character's hp (single blow) as massive damage and changed the static 15 to 10+ 14/ hp (rounded up) which makes saves always hard but never impossible. ---Rusty

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

Well, compared to Fireball which is 3rd level spell trades does a cap of 10d6 but as a area effect. One level higher slot and hitting one target is a fair trade. ---Rusty

No spell resistance vs. Orb spells? Why?

1d8+x isn't much to worry about for not allowing spell resistance. Its better then Magic missile at lower levels, but not as great in higher. Great first level usage spell. ---Rusty

D&D 4E What Should 4e magic be like?

I have been pinging around a few idea in my head. Invocation magic. Throw out spells a day and prepared spells. Keep maximum spell a day and Spells know. Spells are gained not automatically, but by rolling a Invocation Check as per the rules of UA. When ever player would gain a new spell (even...

    Balance: Gestalt Characters vs. Non-gestalts

I told my players that they ha the option of Gestalt at half the level if they wanted that option. Two took it, two other played straight characters.

    Monte Cook's World of Darkness

Yeah..I have a bad feeling about this. I liked WoD so much before 2.0. Its just that I can't shake this feeling of 'Bad to worse' is all. ---Rusty

What, If Anything, Might be Wrong with the Warblade?

They both have there own set of class abilities out side Stance/maneuvers. So if it is balanced there should be no problem if a Fighter could do the same S/M as a Warblade. ---Rusty

What, If Anything, Might be Wrong with the Warblade?

Thats what I thought. Now..Give a Fighter or a Paladin the same progression as a Warblade and see if they match up. ---Rusty

    Balance: Gestalt Characters vs. Non-gestalts

Not to brag, but I made that suggestion, which went unnoticed (I thought) I have also thought up a more simple version of that as well, which is make them half the level as the party. So: Normal/Gestalt 2/1 4/2 6/3 8/4 Ect ect... My reasoning for this is that a Gestalt Sorc3/monk3 is as good...

War(locks), what is it good for?

Warlocks are tough to play unless you totally power game feats and invocations (Such as Mortalae feat and Hellfire blast invocation) If you play them straight from Complete Arcane, then its not a whole lot of fun. Invocation growth rate is slow as all heck, which can make them borning as well...

Do your players hate your house rules?

My house rules typically replace rules with roleplaying, which makes combat streamlined and more fun, because players have more lean way for their actions with out having to worry about only being able to do something by a feat or other mechanic. The change isn't crazy, where you can CDG all...

What, If Anything, Might be Wrong with the Warblade?

How does the feat work? My post was referring to the classes picking a progression style they like..Presuming that Bo9S Stance/Manurers is set up in the same manner as Wizards, Sorcs, And bards cast spells. ---Rusty
