    Solving the Called Shot Problem

I have not read 'Torn Asunder' but for called shot I use the normal sunder rules using str for hardness and con for hp. On a failed attempt to sunder, it does damage that bypass hardness. Effectively, you deal little damage, or cleave a arm in twine. But, when using called shots in your...

Theories regaurding the change in rules of D&D.

In a thread in the house rules section, I had posted this: The purpose of this thread is to discuss theories on how D&D has changed over the years, not WrongBadFun. ---Rusty

    Skill Based System for Fantasy

Gurps is the way to go. Keep a eye out for a GURPS supplement I will be putting out in the near future. It simplifies the Skills bloat, so character creation doesn't come to a screeching halt when you get that far. I will throw a link up for it's development when it comes. ---Rusty

Alpha Omega: a web 2.0 "table top" RPG? WTF?.

Reading through the 'how to play' sections, it says the rule game rules will allow players to easily make their own game mechanics. This worries me. ---Rusty

Hourly resets instead of daily resets [merged]

Sorry for the off topic I know, I know. I play closer to RAW then anyone else I've ever seen, making wizards pick spells they prepare and only giving players 1 hp back for every hour of rest. My theroy is that D&D rules are changing from edition to edition to go from D&D rules based off war...

Which is more important - smooth/fun game play or realism?

Fun>Realism. D&D is a abstract game not physic 101. ---Rusty

Hourly resets instead of daily resets [merged]

Personaly, I think the best way to do that is two have two daily resets, rather then getting hourly resets. This is done by halving some stats. Half Hp Half Spell per day Half class abilities (Per day, to a min of one) The resets come at one time during the day when they rest, and once again...

    Touch of Golden Ice

I don't think it is to good because of static dc of 14. Touch of Golden Ice is no longer useful after a certain level, when making a flat dc 14 is easy. Even in levels 1-6 a 14 isn't to difficult on the dice. My problem is the metagame factor Touch of Golden Ice brings to game. I add the...

    Starmantle

Hue, (if I am am able to call you that on the boards..) Like I said before, the magic item and the spell have slightly different effects from each other but the end result is the the same overall. I don't know who told you it gives dr, but there isn't anything in the text to support such a...

Did anyone here come into gaming *through* computers?

Um..When I was Six I was playing Super Mario Bros. with my friend when he said "Hey, want to play a game where you can cut people in half with a axe?" I have been a D&D player ever since. Does that count? ---Rusty

Need help making notes into a campaign settting!

How does one go from taking tons of unorganized notes and turn it into a proper setting? The notes on the city are random at best, scribbled on a note pad as I think of them. They are mostly on the Cities that populate the world, the population, goverment, noble houses ect, ect, with deeper...

Do you put downloaded artwork in your house rulebook?

Other: I use Downlaoded art, but as character avatars because I can not draw. I don't use them for any house rule hand outs only because I never gave any hand outs with house rules. ---Rusty

Computers beat up my role player

This logic doesn't work because you care comparing apples and oranges, and i'll tell you why. You are right on about madden football vrs real football, but that example does not work for rpg vrs crpgs becase they are both games in which you are playing a role in. They both start off giving the...

Computers beat up my role player

The added words does not change the fact that it is a game you play a role in. Its like saying four quarters may make a dollar but they are not made from paper like a dollar is. ---Rusty

1st Ed. Help with movement rules

A real quick question. So...A all human party has a movement of 9''. How is that figured on Hexes. I having mulling through the three core AD&D books, but have not found anything that says what a hex/square represents. How far can the party move in combat. ---Rusty
