Suggest Your "Rule of Three" Questions for Next Week (4/17)

Q: What, if any, are the plans for the GSL? Will it be expanded to include new material? Is it possible that some or all of the non-ip 4e material might be released under the OGL once DNDNext is released? EDIT: I just realized the OP specifically requests no "business side" questions, which...

DM Minion: Digital Encounter\Combat Managment Tool for the iPad and Android Tablets

I'm like that - Though I usually want to track power usage. For that I only need name and whether it's Encounter or Daily, not the full power text.

DM Minion: Digital Encounter\Combat Managment Tool for the iPad and Android Tablets

The preview stuff looks good, but unfortunately it looks a tad out of my price range. Not that it looks bad at all - quite the contrary - just that I have trouble convincing myself to spend 5 dollars on an app, let alone 12. :-S If this had a lower price point, or a map-and-miniature function...

D&D 4E 4E combat and powers: How to keep the baby and not the bathwater?

I don't think penalties to an action to prevent its use more often really works, honestly. For the person optimized for that action, it's not actually a hurdle at all, and for the person who wants to try it out because it makes sense given the narrative, it's just giving them an arbitrarily...

Review of Lords of Waterdeep (Board Game) by Wizards of the Coast

Ah, knew I missed something. I only scanned the appendices with the buildings. Thanks!

Review of Lords of Waterdeep (Board Game) by Wizards of the Coast

Quick question; is the player who's first player /always/ first? Or does the tower pass at EOR or something? Reading the rules, I kept thinking like that felt like it /should/ be there, but I didn't see it.

What would you like to see happen with FR?

Come, now; All I want is a mixture of setting materials, not the setting-hegemony we've seen for the last year or so. [As an aside, sentient golem != robot, and while Eberron material was being published regularly, there /wasn't/ a dearth of FR material, FWIW.]

What would you like to see happen with FR?

I'd prefer they moved the focus off of it; I don't particularly care for the setting, honestly, and all it does for me is push back the interesting setting material for a year or more. I mean, it's cool if someone else likes it, but I'd like some of the setting love spread around. Ever since DS...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E and Backwards Compatibility

The last edition that was backwards-compatible was 2e. I need only to be able to convert my character thematically, not mechanically. Ditto on adventures, and monsters, and pretty much everything.

D&D 4E 4E combat and powers: How to keep the baby and not the bathwater?

I include full power (4e) spell (3e) and feature (either) descriptions, hence the length. Either way, I can get sheets down to about a quarter of a page if I want to. Like I said, long-form character sheets are not an attribute of the system, but of personal preference.

D&D 4E 4E combat and powers: How to keep the baby and not the bathwater?

I'd like to point out that a long character sheet isn't necessary for 4e; I could easily fit four or more characters onto a single page if I really wanted to, and mine are normally only 2 pages - and the second is taken up entirely by an equipment list and tracking boxes for hp, surges, powers...

D&D 4E Questions: How do 4e Themes work?

    1) Depends. If I were starting a campaign, I'd ask each player to choose one; If I had a campaign running and wanted to add them, I might either just give one to each player, or hand them out as "treasure". 2) No. One theme, that's it. You can retrain out of a theme and into another, though...

    D&D 4E Whose staying with 4e?

Isn't this a bit early? We haven't even seen the playtest yet! That said, given what I'm seeing so far, I'll probably stick to 4e, but I'm reserving judgement at least until I've had a pass at the playtest.

Yes. To melt it down to make weapons, and then either keep it or sell it and make a fortune.

    D&D 5E (2014) I hope this isn't 5E...(art that screams "not this, not this!")

mkill - DiTerlizzi's good, but if you're talking about proportions, he's not exactly a paragon. Look at that tiefling's forearms! Yeesh. I actually prefer O'Connor's work in that example... :p

Review of Adventure-a-Week.com & Crypt of the Sun Lord (free module!)

It's not that converting adventures is hard... it's just time consuming. For a lot of people, they use modules specifically to avoid spending a lot of prep time on the game, so something from another system isn't bad, but it's far from ideal. As for the adventures... I'm inclined to either go...

    D&D 5E (2014) I hope this isn't 5E...(art that screams "not this, not this!")

Reynolds is hit-or-miss. His panoramas for Eberron were amazing, but he just does not do posing figures well. He needs to be showing action, or his style suffers. As for WAR being iconic of 4e... I dunno. It's /there/ yeah, but I think William O'Connor was more emblematic. As an aside, I want...

    Naval Combat - Turning?

In the boat descriptions in the Naval Combat setion in Digging for Lies, a few boats, in particular Il Draçon de Mer and the RNS Impossible, have turning abilities that read as folows; "Il Draçon de Mer can turn in place. In tactical combat it must spend 16 squares of movement before it can...

    ZEITGEIST Siberys' Zeitgeist Story Hour

The problem is that the Dramatis Personae only include characters the PCs already know about that will be important to the adventure... Not quite what I'm looking for. They are helpful, though, as reminders. As for Jack's wife, yeah. I gotta figure a way to leverage that.
