Ever had an RPG bring a tear to your player's eyes (or your own)?

Same here. I don't know how I'd react to someone shedding tears at the game table...

Converting Marvel Superheroes to M&M Rules

Those are two excellent threads for Marvel and DC character write-ups. As far as doing your own conversions; decide on the PL that you think the character should be and then build the character from there trying to get as close as you can to the feel of the character. All in all, that's a...

    Complete Arcane base classes

I like the Warlock. With the right evocations they are a great addition to any party. Depending on the situation, they can either be extremely useful to the point of possibly overpowered to very weak. Overall, I like that balance. Warmage is alright as well. They can be extremely powerful...

    Good Superhero-Game?

Just adding to the chours of M&M 2E love. It's the best supers game I've ever played. However, if you don't like M&M 2E, HERO 5th Edition is good, just don't let the HUGE rulebook scare you. I also have a soft spot for the old Marvel Superheroes RPG. FASERIP is still embedded in my...

    Complete Warrior base classes

The Hexblade is alright. Like Joshua says above, they are weak against undead and constructs, but not to the point where they are useless. The Samurai was a big step backward compared to what we saw in OA. I prefer the Samurai class in Legends of the Samurai by RPGObjects better than any...

    D20 Modern or Spycraft II?

Heh. No worries. Vitality and Wound Points and armor as DR are two changes that I made in my (D20 Modern) games. I do agree that there are things that SC2.0 does better. Chases, autofire rules, the way skills are set up, and scalable NPC's are all done better than D20 Modern. I haven't...

    D20 Modern or Spycraft II?

I've been using D20 Modern since it first came out and I've never had a boring game. I guess it's just a matter of personal taste.

Do You RPG More Than Once Per Week?

The only gaming I do more than once a week is on my computer. Beyond that, I'm lucky if I game more than once every other month or so.

Does Adulthood Change the RPG Experience Much?

The experience changes as one gets older. I know for me, I went from clearing out dungeons filled with evil halflings to games that actually had some sort of plot beyond "go here and kill this". The biggest change to my gaming as I got older is that I don't have much in the way of time to...

So how long have YOU been playing D&D?

I started at age 14 with an old copy of the Basic D&D Rules (the one with the dragon coming out of the water). I got into it via HeroQuest and Final Fantasy.

    D&D - historical or fantastic?

I voted an 8. It's over the top in many cases, but grounded it reality in others (at least until a spell breaks the laws of physics for a bit). D&D is for the fantasical, for me. There are other games to play for grim and gritty.

Choose one race in addition to the core races

I voted Draconic, just because I've always been fond of draconic races. However, I'm with Lord Mhoram on this one. Anything that can make an interesting race with a reasonable niche in the world is up for grabs in my games.

Do You Use Your RPG Rules as Written?

I use most of the rules as written, since if I didn't I would be better off either finding a game that sat with me better or write my own. However, I have a few house rules that I use.

Is your D&D campaign a game or a story?

It's primarily a game for my group and I. Sure, there are story elements, but we're still playing a game so a game it is.

Why would you want to play *that*??

Anything that you see time and time again in the game gets tiresome. It doesn't matter if it's the standard Human fighter, halfling rogue, Elf wizard, and dwarf cleric or some wild group of crazy races and odd classes. Too much of any one thing gets old after a while.

Do RPGs' Wargaming Aspects Overshadow RPing?

I voted No. In every campaign I've played in or ran there has been plenty of combat and plenty of roleplaying. I've never seen that combat leads to roleplaying being sidetracked.

    [May] What are you reading?

Just about finished with Stephen King's "Cell" and going to start on Jeff Pearlman's "Love Me, Hate Me: Barry Bonds and the Making of an Anti-Hero".

    Sticky D&D Minis

I'm curious about this as well. I primed my D&D Boardgame minis to paint and then ended up sticky as well. I was chalking it up to the type of plastic used since that primer (Krylon Flat Grey) didn't do that with my hard plastic or metal figs.

Is Magic Too Commonplace In RPGs?

I voted "No", but my idea is more along the lines of depending on the game and what the players want. D&D players, mostly, want and like a lot of magic. After all, that's why books like the Spell Compendium and Complete Arcane were big sellers. Plus, the very fact that D&D continues to be the...
