Are people underestimating the desire to "come home"?

    Explained over here - http://www.enworld.org/forum/5775922-post34.html

    D&D 5E (2014) I think 5E needs less innovation.

Stepping in for a sec, but I understand him to mean what the phrase typically means - once you leave home, you'll never truly be able to emotionally return - you'll be too changed to ever look at home the same way again.

    D&D 5E (2014) I think 5E needs less innovation.

Here's the thing, we all know it, we just express it differently. WotC has two challenges facing them with the new version - expectations of past and expectations of future. Expectations of past encompasses not only the mechanical aspects of prior editions, from races as class in OD&D to the...

    D&D 5E (2014) I think 5E needs less innovation.

Possibly supported again, but that isn't really the point as far as I can see.

    No More Reptiles with Boobs!

Heh, I don't think that was very convincing when Desmond Morris tried that argument either. :)

    D&D 5E (2014) I think 5E needs less innovation.

But a lot of feel that we did upgrade, or at the least are part of a game supported by new material.

    What is "sence"?

Bring back the exposed boobs on the Monsters!

Return to? Clearly you weren't around for the second half of the last century.

Hold on there, I wouldn't want 'em to be a freak.

D&D 5E (2014) Faith, Gods, and your Character in 5E

Among the many things I liked about the Scarred Lands was the rule that if you spent a round and prayed to a particular diety, then you'd get a small bonus on a related action. For example, pray to the god of smiths and you'd get a +1 to a craft (armor) check - I wouldn't want only divine...

    Why I Changed Editions

As someone who went from Mutants and Masterminds 1e to Mutants and Masterminds 2e, and then swearing to never again run M&M, I feel for you. I picked up ICONS and would run that all day long. I hope 5e allows for the same speed and simplicity that I desire.

Bring back the exposed boobs on the Monsters!

So people who'd prefer that WotC be inclusive with their artwork as a method of not driving away potential players have psychological problems? The people who would be offended by such artwork have psychological problems? Dude, it's 2012. Get out of the basement and feel the warm sunshine of...

    D&D 5E (2014) I think 5E needs less innovation.

The tradition and history can ultimately save it, yes. It can also kill it. You can't simply go one way or another, it's a tightrope you must walk, better than any thief-acrobat or making a 30 on your acrobatics check.

    D&D 5E (2014) I think 5E needs less innovation.

Playing a character 2m tall just doesn't sound heroic. :p

Scaling spell levels - e.g. lvl 12 spell for lvl 12 caster

One of the things I liked in the previews and lead-ups to 4e was the idea that 9 spell levels being the cap would be a thing of the past (or cleric 7 for you old-timers), instead the spell level you could cast was the same as the level caster you were. Now, the way it turned out, spells were a...

Bring back the exposed boobs on the Monsters!

Such art isn't trying to get women into playing RPGs. Such movies aren't trying to get women into playing RPGs. Hello, 2012 is calling.

Bring back the exposed boobs on the Monsters!

It's 2011. You either step forward or you fall back, there is no standing still. Especially given that this argument was made back in 2002-2003 in regards to a certain publisher and I find the arguments now just as I did then. If you want to live in the "glory days", then by all mean stick...

Why we need Warlords in D&DN

I, on the other hand, greatly enjoyed the Marshal in 3.5 and would like to see its successor in 5e.

Those people being women. And guys who would prefer not to make women feel less welcome playing D&D. Funny that.
