Is 3.x Your Favorite Version of D&D?

I have played since 1978. I have enjoyed every edition more than the one before it.

Feats: Not enough or too many?

Like Psion, I did not respond. My choice "there are plenty" was not offered.

Does the Evard's Black Tentacles spell inflict lethal damage

There is a difference between grappling damage and damage while grappling. The tentacles are lethal.

Do You Prefer a Cinematic Combat System?

I voted no. Cinematic Combat is not a system. It is a skill in description.

Does Adulthood Change the RPG Experience Much?

I chose no. The amount of time that I can spend playing is significantly less, but the experience I have when I play has not changed much. Things I thought were "cool" are not so much. But that's about it.

Best Class for a new player

Fighter is the easiest to start with. But do NOT start new players at anything but 1st level.

What color is the iconic dragon?

Red, for many reasons. 1. Basic box set that I pruchased in 1978 had one. 2. Smaug. 3. The phrase "fire breathing dragon" when translated into D&D is a red.

    The Spirit vs the Letter

Balance. RAW stands until abused, and if a spirit of the rules is unmet by the rules as written, then house rule. Neither trumps the other, and both are trumped by making sure your game is fun.

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

I find that most people who discover I am not a Christian appear perplexed at how to greet me from December 15th until on or about December 27th. Yet they have no problem ringing out a "Happy New Year!" to me. The irony in this is that although not a Christian, I find great joy in celebrating...

Prestige Class Format: Complete Warrior or Champions of Valor?

I voted something else. Enough with the PrCs. We don't need 'em.

Where would you rather be kicked?

I play soccer. I've been kicked in both. A kick in the groin takes you out of the game for the day. A kick in the face of equal force takes you out of a lot more than the game. I'll take an unexpected kick in the groin over an unexpected kick in the face, thank you.

How Much Would You Pay For TB:P in Print?

I can't vote since the options don't give me one I can agree with. What people think of the product has no realtion to the prices yuo've assigned such opinions to. Lose the tags and see what people are willing to pay.

    Kits vs Prestige Classes

None of the above. I don't like prestige classes. I didn't like kits. I also would prefer that we get rid of 7 of the 11 base classes, and go with warrior, rogue, priest and mage. Want a druid? It's a priest with a nature deity. Want a paladin? Play a warrior-priest. Etc.

    Whose Enjoyment Matters Most?

Everyone deserves to have fun, but if I'm not having fun then I don't belong there.

Party goes after tough opponets with eyes wide open...

Let them Learn My option is missing. Learn the Hard Way As others have noted, I will let them have some hints that they are in over their heads, but I won't stop them. I a confortable with the world they play in having 20 HD monsters even when they are first level. Part of gaining experience...

    (Poll) Arabian Adventures

If it is going to be produced for an "existing world" then I think an Arabian Nights approach would be best. If it is to be a stand-alone / any world setting, then I am all for re-vamping al-Qadim. However, as someone above said, deviation from that TSR product content might cause a furor...

    Do you like D&D?

If you read the replies and compare them to the votes, I thinks you'll get a pretty clear picture of what you had intuitively guessed: Complainers talk more than praisers. Barely 10% of the votes indicate any preference of a previous edition over the current one. Yet over 50% of the comments...

D&D 4E Suppose 4e is released, do you buy it?

So, after 240 votes, the answer is: 198 yes. 42 no. Scaling a yes-no question just makes the answer harder to see.

    When to award XP?

I don't use experience points. My campaign was a series of planned events / adventure arcs. If I had three in a row that was suitable for 4th level, then the PCs stayed 4th level for all three. If I had only one suitable for 5th level, the PCs were 5th level for only that adventure. I...

    Best Method of Dividing XP?

Voted Other I don't use experience points. My campaign (recently concluded) involved a series of encounters, adventures and story arcs that were designed and appropriate for specific levels. Sometimes I had only one adventure at a specific level, and sometimes three or four. Rather than...
