[4e] Would Star Pact Warlocks be Opposed to Psionics?

The Dragon article on star pact warlocks addresses the issue of the star pact and the Far Realm, at least partially: (Dragon 366) Wish Upon a Star There are two good DDI articles on the subject of warlock pacts: (Dragon 381) Performing the Pact: Warlock Patrons (Dungeon 174) Sealing the...

Bone Golems and Spectral Surgeon (Epic level)

Mesh, keep these monsters and the short vignettes about your campaign coming. My party should be hitting Epic tier in the near-to-moderate future (level 17 now), and I am already having to get pretty creative to challenge them. Plus I really enjoy your approach to monster design.

    D&D 4E 4e game suggestion request

The DMG2 has a lot of info that might be very relevant to your game, particularly the section on Alternative Rewards (p. 136-145). This section includes the inherent bonus rules (in the "A Reward-Based Game" box, p. 138) and things like divine boons and and grandmaster training, which...

What single houserule has made your game AWESOME?

I've had great success with monsters doing +33% damage and having 75% hit points. Since I play 4e almost exclusively on RPOL, speeding up combats (# of rounds) has a huge effect on the pace of combat in the play-by-post format.

    Consequences of encounters replacing dailies?

Storminator and Amaroq have the right of it, I think. Dailies are game-changing, but because they can only be used once per day, you can only change one encounter. Encounter powers are designed with the intent of using them every encounter. If you were to do this, I think the power level of...

Make This Mini Mighty! An experiment.

IIRC, Klaus has a character based on this mini, or at least one that uncannily resembles it. And he has a piece of artwork to match: Claudio Pozas - In Her Majesty's Service. I see this as a rogue that goes dagger/hand crossbow to have a good mix of melee and ranged powers. Perhaps Raven...

    New status effects?

What about a status effect that demands you take your actions in a predetermined order -- for example, you act in minor->move->standard on your turn, or the opposite. Not sure what that condition would be, but it could potentially apply a constraint to a target without eliminating any actions...

    Hybrid Championship Cup - Nominations

I am partial to the tactical warlord|swordmage combo. I've also briefly seen someone play an artificer|swordmage and thought that was neat.

    Monk Unarmed Strike. How? When?

No, the proficiency bonus of the unarmed attack (or any weapon) is NEVER applied to any implement attack. And since every monk power has a specified damage die, the d8 damage of the monk's unarmed attack is never taken into account in any monk power or PP power. However, as mentioned above, it...

    Encounter Level - realistic maximums

I will often run encounters up to 5 or even 6 levels about the party. However, I do this by adding more monsters of the PCs' level (+/- 1), not by using individual monsters that are level +5 or something like that. As Flipguarder says, higher level monsters have very high defenses, and it...

    Monk Paragon Path: Drunken Master

Don't movies often depict drunken boxing masters effectively fighting when prone? Some sort of ability that allows the character to move at normal speed or shift while prone, or fight without penalty (or perhaps even a bonus) while prone might be cool.

    Stat Generation through Editions

I didn't remember that about the UA ability score generation -- and I completely forgot about comeliness! D&D definitely needs more ability scores.

    Stat Generation through Editions

The 1st edition Unearthed Arcana had a variety of ability score generation rules, IIRC. One that stands out (because I wanted to play a paladin-cavalier at the time <gag>) is where, for each character class, you get increasingly large dice pools for each ability score, ranked in an order that...

Haha, Toon, I could see that getting a response, one way or another :)

    Full Discipline Classes

Could we also maybe create isolated Full Discipline powers for existing classes? For example, awhile ago someone mentioned that Sure Strike would be a viable choice if it could be used in place of a melee basic attack, or as an opportunity attack. What if we had (for example) a Fighter at-will...

D&D 4E Do you want more 4e classes, races, feats, powers, etc?

I think more races, classes, powers, and feats are great. The glut of material can get overwhelming, but with the Character Builder, it is much more manageable, and I think the modularity of classes and the formula they seem to roughly follow with races, feats, and powers keeps things pretty...

Terrific post by Gabe from Penny Arcade

I think calling this a bait and switch is wrong. It's not like Gabe promised his players a 4E campaign, got them to sign up, and then pulled the "time travel to OD&D" and changed the whole game. This was a temporary, one-to-a-few session thing.

Level 26 Elite: Stone Golem Guardian

Seems fairly nasty, combining a lot of attacks that can pin an enemy close by with an auto-damage aura. I also like that, when it is bloodied, it becomes a lot easier to hit, but also doles out more damage, like a brute. Did you notice if its very low Reflex defense for its level was too much...

Help me select powers for a soulless guy.

Because he is "hollow", maybe he projects an aura that drains the souls of those around him -- a sort of black hole for souls. Perhaps large penalties on death saves? Induce vulnerability to necrotic damage (and combine that with necrotic attack powers)? Maybe penalties to saves or defenses...

Class Acts: Warlocks -- Crimson Knights of Bael Turath

Class Acts: Warlocks -- Crimson Knights of Bael Turath I hadn't seen any posts about this newest Class Acts article. I enjoyed the little bit of fluff about how Asmodeus forced the other eight Lords of Hell to reveal magical secrets to the tieflings of Bael Turath. The best part, however, is...
