    Game Errata

Re: Lightning Bolt, the spell used to have a primary target, then two secondary targets. Now it has been revised (in Heroes of the Fallen Lands) to have Targets: one, two, or three creatures.

Solo fey in a hedge maze

Gillie Dhu's "Have at Thee!" does a lot of damage for level 1 characters -- it can possibly put a full HP non-defender straight to 0, and put a bloodied PC straight to dead in one hit. Combined with his immediate actions, he can be quite deadly. Maybe that was your intent, since you are trying...

Weapon Focus: Per Attack or Per [W]?

That would actually be a pretty cool way to do Power Attack, instead of the current feat.

    MM1, MM2 Solos Upgraded MM3 style?

Hopefully this new series of articles called Monster Makeovers will address some of the issues this thread is highlighting. The first example is more a level up of a Monster Vault creature than a rebuild of an MM1/MM2 monster, but it is a nice start, and contains some good tips.

Solo Characters Based On Solo Monsters?

Original solo monster guidelines: x5 hit points (x4 for heroic tier?), +2 to 2 or 3 defenses, 2 APs, +5 to saves New (DMG2) solo monster guidelines: x4 hit points, 2 APs, +5 to saves The only change is a decrease in hit points and no boost to defenses. If you own MM2, MM3, MV, or the Dark Sun...

    Minor quests and party leveling

I'd hand out interesting single use boons that are situationally useful and related to whatever quest earned the award. Things like immediately and automatically making a save against an effect, rolling a natural 20 on a skill check, etc. As another possibility, I've handed out...

Solo Characters Based On Solo Monsters?

The update was not in the errata, it was in the DMG2.

Rule of Three and THEMES! FINALLY THEMES!!!!

In the DSCS, all themes offer encounter (level 3 and 7) and daily (level 5 and 9) attack powers that can be selected in lieu of normal class powers, just like optional utility powers in this article. What the DSCS did not have are the level 5 and 10 features of the theme. Clearly these themes...

    Something special for issue #400?

The June issue of the online Dragon will be #400. Issue #100 was before my time as a Dragon reader, and I was no longer following Dragon by the time #300 rolled around, but I remember #200 being special, at least for the hologram on the cover. Doing something special for #400 would (a) be...

    Spellthief conversion help

    ranged training

Nothing equivalent, but there are a couple of options that do the whole ability score swapping: Precision Throw: Whenever you make a ranged basic attack using a thrown weapon with which you have proficiency, you can use Dexterity instead of Strength for the attack roll and the damage roll...

You Wanted Character Themes, You Got 'Em - Dragon 399 ToC

I think a theme for every single core 4e deity (or at least the non-evil ones) would be great. While appropriate for divine characters, they would also allow you to create non-divine PCs that are devoted to a god. Contender of Kord or Hunter of Melora, anyone?

    revenant warforged componant/embed question

I think you could totally go with that image. After all, some Eberron sourcebook introduced the idea of undead "woeforged" (what a woefully terrible name). You could then imagine that the reason the attached or embedded components do not work is that something fundamental has changed in the...

    revenant warforged componant/embed question

Unfortunately, the requirement for attached components is that the wielder must have the living construct racial quality. I do not think the revenant's Past Life quality helps with that.

    D&D 4E 4E Deities?

His power level falls just below a god in 4e, plus he lacks some of the bennies of being a deity (from a game mechanics standpoint), but yeah, he is trying hard to become the god of (un)death.

    Warlock w/out the Pact fluff?

The patron and the pact doesn't come into play unless the DM wants it to be part of the story. So I think you could absolutely re-flavor the hexblade to an arcane duelist. The only thing I think you would want to consider is why the hexblade gets a power boost when he slays an enemy or an...

Input/Advice for Infernal Pact Warlock Patrons

To follow up, there are two excellent articles in Dragon and Dungeon that deal with creating unique warlock patrons for all types of pacts: Performing the Pact Sealing the Pact "Performing the Pact" is more player-oriented and even has an example infernal warlock patron called The Prisoner in...

Input/Advice for Infernal Pact Warlock Patrons

Bel, archdevil and ruler of Avernus, the first layer of the Nine Hells, has an alliance of sorts with eight powerful pit fiends called the Dark Eight. You could also probably scrounge up the names of eight former archdevils or perhaps dukes, since there is a lot of volatility in the Nine Hells...

    Help With Art

frankthedm has made some pretty nice counters using sprites from old 2D video games: http://www.enworld.org/forum/media-lounge-miscellaneous-geek-stuff/225315-sources-images-use-tokens.html I think those are a great source of free tokens.

    Monk NPC Template

I think building the NPC as a monster is the way to go. If the NPC is a monk, then it probably should be built as a skirmisher. Give it a few abilities to reflect monk-like high mobility, and something like Flurry of Blows -- but remember you can take license and do whatever you think is cool...
